Read today Disney is shuttering lucasarts.

No new games just issuing licensing rights.

I happen to like a lot of their star war games.

Sigh............

I actually think it's a good thing. LucasArts made some good games back in the day, not just Star Wars, but some of the stuff they collaborated with TellTale on were really fun.

But at some point they realized they could slap a Star Wars logo on a really bad game for instant dollah. They had some real stinkers as of late.

Don't believe everything on the Interwebz! A duck's quack DOES echo!

I guess it just means future SW games will be released with a Disney logo... No biggie imo.

Depends on the quality of the Star Wars movies Disney makes. If they are anything like The Avengers, I'm all for it. Heck, gimme 2 of those a year. But if their Star Wars movies are John Carter-esque space adventures, then one a year will get tiring very quickly.

It's obvious the best leading action man in Hollywood: Adrian Brody. smile.gif

Joking aside Shia LaBeouf is the best bet. He's already played Han's son so the DNA is there and that story is in the past as well as Star Wars so it's practically canon.

I don't want him in Star Wars.

One a year? Why?

I have no reason to doubt what Disney is saying but....do you guys think they're really looking to do this?

don't see how they can maintain the overall quality of the franchise churning these out so fast.

Apparently they're going to use different production teams. So you'll have JJ and company turning out Star Wars sequels every few years. Another group will be working on Han Solo spin-off movies. Etc.

Net result will be one movie per year. But that doesn't mean each production team will have to conceive, write, shoot and post an entire movie in 12 months. Having multiple productions going simultaneously is how Pixar does it, and why they aren't releasing one movie every 4 years, like they used to at first.

I don't know. I'm a huge fan but it seems risky from the standpoint of creating burnout or even devaluing the franchise possibly. It's just hard to imagine a "Star Wars" something coming out every year.

Oddly, this conversation eerily sounds like it's heading towards a conference room table with someone saying "How will the Emperor retain control without the senate?" biggrin.gif

^^^^ Good point. Even if the spin-off movies are well made, Star Wars fatigue/burnout could set in. After JJ's Episode 7, if there is a Han Solo movie AND a Yoda movie, audiences might not be so enthused about Episode 8 (through no fault of that movie).

Disney is simply looking to make Lucasfilm their next Marvel....another studio/production company that has been churning out almost a movie a year.

After watching this and Cowboys vs. Aliens, I think Mr. Ford should spend more time gardening and less acting.
Seriously, he shows early stage (at the very least) Alzheimers....

I must be the only person who enjoyed cowboys and aliens. It will be cool to see Harrison in EP 7.

Well, we might just hear a new John Williams score for Ep VII after all.....

"For 'Star Wars,' it’s very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film because he was there long before I was," Abrams said during a press conference in Berlin for his new film, "Star Trek Into Darkness." Those words will certainly make Williams happy. Back in February during a concert, the composer said he was looking forward to another trip to a galaxy far, far away.

"Neither I, nor George, nor anyone else involved thought this would go far or in a few years there would be a sequel and I'd have to revisit the themes ... and years later another trilogy," he said. "Now we're hearing of a new set of movies coming in 2015, 2016, so I need to make sure I'm still ready to go in a few years for what I hope would be continued work with George." Lucas sold the rights to "Star Wars" to Disney in October of 2012, but will consult on the new films despite neither writing or directing the finished product.

For Abrams, working with Williams would be a big change. The director has worked exclusively with composer Michael Giacchino on his feature films ("Mission: Impossible III," "Star Trek," "Super 8" and "Star Trek Into Darkness").

Having had relatives who did get stricken w/ Alzheimers & seeing what it did to them first hand....nope, I don't think that is Ford's issue. Older, crankier....maybe a tad awkward in interviews (which he generally despises anyway)....yes. Early stage Alzheimers? No.
