I do, with soap and water. I can't stand inserting a disc with smudges and fingerprints into my player.

Usually just wipe them down with a soft cloth and then stinkpalm them before the return.

I rarely clean mine. If I happen to notice a glaring fingerprint or smudge (and now I think I know where those come from..... not naming any names darthrsg), I'll wipe it off. But I've never given one a bath.

Dude, are you made of leprechauns? Cause that was awesome!

Cloth for me, too. I don't want to wait for any cleaning solution to dry before putting it in the player. I also try to get a disc within the first two weeks of release, as after that it starts getting scratches, in my experience.

Don't believe everything on the Interwebz! A duck's quack DOES echo!

Although MY disks are kept pristine with no smudges or scratches, rental disks rarely are.

The only time I will clean one is if there is a problem during playback (which is hardly ever).

This is what I do, too. Unless there is an obvious smudge on the playing surface, I just pop the disc in my player. If there is some messiness on the disc, though, I clean it with screen cleaner and a microfiber cloth.

I don't really stinkpalm them. I've gotten a couple that I wondered about though. One had red fuzz and tiny fingerprints all over it. It was so bad I didn't watch it.

I never look at the bottom of the disc, unless there are playback issues.

This is where my OCD kicks in. I check them every time before playing. I guess it came about when the ex-wife use to grab the ones we own and leave whole finger and palm prints on them. I almost put that down in my divorce papers as a reason but common sense got the better of me. tongue.gif

I guess it would be better than making an issue of putting a roll of toilet paper in backwards.biggrin.gif

That she got right but she did have a habit of not turning off the lights in a room when she left. Before you knew it, every light in the house was on (apologies to the Trace Adkins song of the same name.)

I don't rent discs very often, but when I do I always clean them. Never know what messy bugger had them before...

Seggers

Mits 73835, Denon X4000, Emotiva UPA5 (triggered), Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s, CS, 10s, the internet, a NAS drive, a TiVo Series 3 and an Oppo 103 (bye bye PS3). There's also a Wii, but we don't talk about that...

Its rare that I find one that is so dirty it causes problems during playback, but I always check before inserting it into the player. However, I don’t clean them if I don’t see any need to. Unlike the SD discs of old, you can’t just insert a BD and resume play, at least you can’t with the majority of them, so it’s a royal PITA to stop a movie, clean the disc, and start the entire process over again.
