Quote:

"He abrogated his rights by sort of, by saying, two years ago he said, 'I don't want to be involved,'" Aykroyd told the magazine. "And the picture company I think had some clause in there that if he actually passed on the third or fourth offer, he no longer has a view of the franchise."

The self-proclaimed Ghostbusters 3 "cheerleader" added that the plot still hinges on the older Ghostbusters passing their proton packs to a new generation, and without or without Murray's participation, the pair remain good friends.

"We can't wait forever," Aykroyd said. "And now's the time to tell the picture company, and I'd say this quite publicly, it's time now to sit down and make this movie, or you will lose your main principals, and you won't be able to make it without us, because we have rights, and now is time to make the movie."

I can fix this. Don't do a sequel. Do a reboot. Venkman style guy played by Paul Rudd. Aykroyd style guy played by Seth Rogen or Danny McBride. Egon style guy James Franco. Winston style played by Craig Robinson. Get Apatow on board and BOOM.

Amen! I don't know about the re-boot idea. They have as much chance of working (i.e. "Batman" and "Star Trek") as a marriage taking place on "The Bachelorette." wink.gif

Is it just me or wouldnt the cast of the Big Bang Theory be perfect for a new generation Ghostbusters? The chemistry is certainly there.

I thought 'Batman Begins', 'Star Trek' and 'Casino Royale' did a great job of re-booting those franchises.

Or the cast of Superbad (for a re-boot where the Ghostbusters are college students rather than college professors).

Sorry...meant to say they all failed miserably with the exception of "Batman" and "Star Trek." Too much caffiene and not enough rest.

Not much of a drinker anymore but I do live vicariously through those who do. wink.gif I've scoured the Internet and the last thing I've seen relating to the third installment has been this story here:

The Big Bang guys would insure me not seeing a Ghostbusters movie with them in it. I would like to see Sheldon get slimed and then die from an allergy to ectoplasm though.
