Although many people on AVS didn’t think much of The American, I really enjoyed it; so much so I have since seen it again. The tension is incredibly high. And what’s not to like about Violante Placido? smile.gif I consider it one of his better performances.

Also, I don’t see any pretentiousness in Clooney. For someone who can be seen with the most beautiful women on his arm, he seems like a normal guy who would be fun to have a few drinks with. Ok, maybe more than a few. biggrin.gif

I agree with every word of that post. Don't let it go to your head. wink.gif

I think both Ben Stiller and Clooney are very good at what they do, and have done some really good work. For Clooney check out "The Descendants" and "Up in the Air" for some particularly good stuff. Stiller has made some classic comedies, "Dodgeball", "Along Came Polly", "Zoolanders", "Tropic Thunder", "Mystery Men", "Your Friends and Neighbors", "There's Something about Mary". For something different from him, check out "Permanent Midnight". For something different for Rogan, check out "50-50".

The OT continues! biggrin.gif

I’ll give, Take This Waltz, a thumbs up for Rogen. At least in this one you feel sorry for him. Michelle Williams is a little doll in this.

Will Ferrell is another one many people don’t like. I think he is a riot. That doesn’t mean his movies are great; its Will himself that makes watching enjoyable. Ron Burgundy is a classic. I can’t wait for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The Dodge commercials he’s doing as Ron Burgundy are funny as heck.

Then you have Will in a complete changeup in Stranger Than Fiction. I also liked Everything Must Go. Those are not your typical Will Ferrell movies.

I like Ferrell except for Burgundy. Everything Must Go is great and I love Talladega Nights.

It’s such an over-the-top character I can see why some/many wouldn’t like it. Long ago I was a radio DJ, and did a little bit of TV, so his character/caricature, like Ted Baxter from Mary Tyler Moore, are very appealing to me.

I like the rest of the cast but my dislike comes from an ex hipster coworker who tried to imitate RB all the time.

Any love for Dinner for Schmucks? I think it's brilliant.

I don't want to sound chauvinist but the original french version "Le Dîner de Cons" is a classic. If you understand french a bit and don't mind subtitles, you owe it to yourself to watch it. Jacques Villeret was a pure comic genius (he was playing Carrell's part of course - and sadly died a few years ago), which to me is also synonym of incredibly sad and lonely characters, as well as being the funniest too. Not many actors can do this imo (maybe Carrey, maybe Carrell and very few others). /OT.

okay... back to This is the End, I forgot about Hill, not a fan either, I think the only reason left for me to watch this film is Emma Watson, otherwise I'll pass. tongue.gif

My girlfriend and I have only ever stopped two movies. The first was I Heart Huckabees. The second was Dinner for Schmucks. Ugh.

Yep, quite a good one. I think I posted a review on this one here some time back. Sarah Polley directed, and I like her work.

"Everything Must Go" is really good. And "The Other Guys" is also very funny and he's fairly constrained in it. I ruined my Crystal Gayle shirt when I watched that one.

Back OT Your Highness is miles better than This is the End. It's so damn funny. If you ever liked any of the old school sword and sorcery flicks or Army of Darkness you should dig this.

Hated your Highness. Can't decide if that or year one was the worst films for me. Guess we have to disagree on this frown.gif

Year One obviously. There's a reason the utterly superb Paul Rudd went uncredited and it's probably Michael Cera.

Speaking of Rogan and Sanders, I watched Funny People last night, and they both did a good job in that. No Oscar winning breakdown scenes or anything, but it was good.
