I'm sure its' prob good but I don't the look of this trailer. It looks like it was made in the 70's or something.

Directed by Derek Cianfrance, the drama stars Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper, Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, Mahershala Ali, Emory Cohen, Dane DeHaan, Gabe Fazio, Bruce Greenwood, Ray Liotta, Ben Mendelsohn and Harris Yulin. Focus Features has set a March 29, 2013 release date.

The film powerfully explores the consequences of motorcycle rider Luke (Gosling)'s fateful decision to commit a crime to support his child. The incident renders him targeted by policeman Avery (Cooper), and the two men become locked on a tense collision course which will have a devastating impact on both of their families in the years following

Ha! When I saw that pic of Gosling, the first thing that came to mind was Peter Stormare in Fargo.

This was pretty good. Kinda like a Drive (yay) meets Crash (meh). Interesting characters & good acting all around. Ben Mendelsohn (Animal Kingdom) stole his half of the film.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I thought it was almost over and that was just the beginning of what could have been a separate movie. Maybe I didn't get enough Ryan Gosling. <3

The above post is 100% medically accurate

Sounds good, others on IMDB say it's really good so Gosling's streak is still safe after Drive. But looks like this is going straight to video soon as hardly any theaters are picking this one up which is fine with me. It's been released already but nobody even knows about it.

Probably means I'll love it then. I didn't hate Drive but didn't get the hype either.

It is worth seeing once, but I wouldn't see it a second time on a big screen. And it is questionable, for me, whether it is worth a BR purchase. I doubt it, but Oblivion is a definite BR purchase when it comes out.

This is a good one fellas, pure deep character study and how random acts intertwine come back and bite you in the ass AKA karma. Gosling is back in top form after the last Only god Forgives, slight only problem is that he was not the main star...well at least he was the 1st half. The 2nd half was all about Bradley cooper so some of you loyal Gosling's will feel cheated out. I wasn't aware of that at all from the trailers.

The character Gosling plays is a lot like the one in Drive. A loner, quiet bad ass who beats to his own drum except here he's talented with a motorcycle. I LOVE the opening scene which only shows his upper torso playing with a switch knife very reminiscent of DeNiro's opening prison scene in Cape Fear buffed out with the tats. I knew right away this is going to be good.

It's a long movie running well over 2 hrs, which of course I like..,more to enjoy and soak up. For some reason, the movie Mystic River keeps coming up when I think about this movie. I guess they both have that small town feel. You can say it's like Drive and Mystic River combined.

Oh, and the cast was great. Ava Mendes took her level up couple notches, Ray Liotta and B Cooper solid as usual. I have no hesitation recommending this.

Tried to watch this promo for the American Tobacco Industry....popped out at 45 minutes.
Didn't care about where the protagonist or story was going.

BTW, I'm getting a little tired with this Ryan Gosling anti-hero stuff.wink.gif

You just missed the 2nd movie (I think?)! You seem like more of a Bradley guy. smile.gif

This was filmed in my area, the director grew up here. Not the most gripping film, I guess since I was caught up with all the real life places in town that were actually in the movie and not renamed lol. I bought the br anyway to suppress the fact that this was a pretty big deal for our area during filming to have so many big names on a "local" production.

You've been cutting movies short lately but this is one movie where that might be not so wise sir. The 2nd act or 2nd half of this movie does not contain Gosling at all. It's like 2 movies, part 1 & 2 shoved into one.

And not worth watching a second time. Unfortunately, the movie could not deliver what the trailer promised.

That's weird.....taking 2 movies and mashing them together.
I don't think I like that idea....having to suffer thru the 1st half of a movie just to get to something interesting.eek.gif

I can usually tolerate that if there is a character I can identify with, like, or even dislike enough to hold interest but at the one hour mark I had to throw in the towel on this one. I'm sorry but within an hour they should have had something to draw viewers in and create an interest in seeing how things play out in the second half.

Watched this Tuesday with several friends. I thought it was great, and the rest of the bunch liked it pretty well also.

It's dark and grim and slow, but it had a great cast, with great acting, great script (with a stumble here and there) and direction, and it did not end on a note of utter despair, as it really seemed it was gonna. It's style is akin to European cinema: think Mystic River, or various Ben Affleck New England movies.

I think if it had been released late in the year it could have gotten a best picture nom from The Academy as a token good film.

As far as two movies together, think Psycho. Same principle.

Good example.
Which reminds me, after watching it recently for first time in decades, I realized it doesn't hold up well for me.

That's a really good point, the Dir had that style very similar to Mystic River and prob why I liked the movie right from the get go. I just didn't like the fact that Gosling was not in the 2nd act,.
