Love Opiate. Used to listen to this album in high school to get pumped up before our basketball games...worked every time.

Man I can't get enough of this track right now... If you have a supremely capable sub setup and mains to keep up, this track can literally take stuff off the walls

Yeah they really need to re-evaluate how they classify and vote for a band's music. Black Keys are hardly rock. Remember when Metallica won a Grammy for one of the worst albums of all time? Like movie critics, I don't listen to music critics either.

I have a buddy who's a HUGE Tull fan who still laughs about this. He said at the time he was more surprised about it than Tull was.

Wow, metal on vinyl. Never tried it, but I bet it's interesting. They are coming back through A-town here in a few months and they ALWAYS sell out.

Speaking of vinyl....last weekend I bought my first turntable in years (or dare I say, decades! wink.gif), so that I could transfer my old collection to iTunes (I have about 400 discs or so, half of it being my parents' oldies...) Which leads me to an odd conclusion (well not so odd in fact): while I've never been one of those "vinyl sounds better" militants, I enjoy CDs and the ability to access music online whenever I want and listen to it on my iPhone just like everyone else - there is something special about putting these things on the platter and let the needle do its thing, about the feeling of "owning" an album in a tangible way, like it's an actual piece of art that has been carefully crafted and packaged. At the same time, my 12 y.o daughter discovered a new way of listening to music (and appreciating it). With a vinyl you just don't skip to "the good parts" every 30 secs, you actually listen, you pay attention to the whole piece, and you appreciate it even more, and you have to take good care of the disc itself. She truly digs it! cool.gif Me I've just rediscovered an old pleasure that I thought was long gone. If I had to make a comparison, it would be like going to the theater (a good one that is) to see a movie - while I truly love Blu-ray and enjoy my HT every day, going to the theater is still something unique. And when I listened to Creeping Death on my old Ride The Lightning LP, it was something unique too. biggrin.gif I'm sure I certainly won't go and buy everything on vinyl from now on, that would be a bit silly imo, but there are a few albums I definitely want - like the special anniversary edition of Dark Side Of The Moon to begin with, or even MJ's Thriller, some landmark albums... I'm most definitely glad I bought this turntable, and glad my daughter, born in the facebook era of futilities, has found a new way of enjoying her music. smile.gif ....Now where did I put these Maidens, Helloween and Manowar albums?!?! wink.gifbiggrin.gif

I only own one vinyl, And Justice For All. Bought it about 10+ yrs ago just because and have never spun it. Don't own a record player. My buddy grabbed the Fat Boys Crushin' LP out of his neighbor's trash. Despite my being a Fat Boys fan he still won't let me have it.

New Sabbath isn't bad at all. Rubin clips and distorts the production as usual.

It'll be in the queue once I get home from work. Mad stoked, I've seen COB once in concert in Charlotte and they killed it. To sweeten the ticket, it was also with Black Label Society and Clutch too IIRC. VERY solid show. I have all the COB albums and love em all!!!

Yes, I bet that was a good show. I've seen them three times I think, and the best was when Amon Amarth opened for them. I didn't catch the show you saw, though. I (we) actually met Alexi at the Iced Earth show a while back (Bodom opened). He was actually really funny and goofy and didn't act as if he was a metal star. He and his crew took video of us and said they may use it for a DVD, but it never happened. Oh well, it was still awesome to meet him and chat for a while.

The new album is the best they've released since Hate Crew Deathroll IMO. I think you'll really like it.

Haven't been all that impressed with the new COB. Maybe it needs a few more spins. It just doesn't match up to their earlier stuff to me.

Nothing will ever touch Hatebreeder or Follow the Reaper, but this is the best they've released in a decade.

I'm an old school metal guy, not into the newer stuff like Hate Breed, Slayer etc. Just not my thing, I have a somewhat wide variety of taste in music. I picked up 13 by Sabbath and I have to say I like it. Tony and Geezer are at the top of their game and Ozzy sounds "right" out front. Of course it's not exactly the same without Bill but I'll take what I can get. I've only heard it twice through so far but it is almost like getting into a time machine. Anyone else heard it yet?

I love it. Really wish Bill just caved and did it anyway for the fans, and not for the money.

First time through the new Sabbath and I have to agree guys, this is very good. I did have to turn the subs way down, the bass is overcooked but once I did that it sounds great and as for the actual tunes/riffs/song writing it is giving a very good first impression. This sounds like it could have been written by them in the 70's but that doesn't mean it sounds dated, good music is timeless IMO.

Wow, can't stop listening to this album tonight, 2nd time through. Great grooves, classic Sabbath dark tone, sludgy mid-tempo riffs - what's not to love. Outstanding.

4 times through the album now. This is something special. This is one of the all time best "comeback" albums I've ever heard.

Sound like they let Toni take over and do his thing. Did he do all the writing back in the 70's? I always assumed so but not sure.

I got the Best Buy "extended version." There are some killer tracks on it. The more I listen to the this recording, the more I like it.
