Yet another

I don't listen to too much newer power metal. That's probably where you'll find most of what you're looking for. My favorites in this style of vocals are old, like Agent Steel's Unstoppable Force, which is my favorite speed metal album. Steve Grimmett on Onslaught's In Search of Sanity and Grim Reaper's Rock You To Hell. Tony Moore on Riot's Thundersteel. And for an operatic flavor, the brilliant Messiah Marcolin.

Something is missing in their music, it's ok but just doesn't quite do it for me. The closest they get is probably the song Lola Montez during the verses. Other than that not so much. Still, I love that singers voice.
Like the singer a lot. Listened to a few songs, not exactly my cup o tea but could prolly enjoy them every now and then.

I freaked a bunch of people out today at work. I work in a retail chain here in New Zealand and we sell speakers/amps/receivers etc (which is my dept) had a guy that looked like the lead singer of sepultura come in and he wanted to listen to some 2 channel setups. I quote "I listen to metal but you probably can't play that here". We had a solid hour of people staring as we thrashed a bunch of not-radio-friendly music and it was great. I particularly enjoyed chucking some morbid angel on. "Hey it's for a customer!!"

I'm sick to death of the mountain of same ole same ole modern thrash, but it's funny how the truly talented ones can still immediately grab my ear. This album won't make you forget the classics, and there isn't a ton of variety here, but man these guys are tight.

Anyone else excited about the new Skinless album? It's been too long.

Any ideas how to fine tune the double bass I'm hearing? With the sub turned off if sounds good, but when the sub is on the double bass sounds like a blurry rumble. I can't make out the individual kick drum hits.

Klipsch RF-82II, RC-62II
2x Dayton Ultimax 12, Behringer iNUKE3000DSP
Denon 2113ci

Sounds like either your sub is not integrating well with your mains or your sub placement/seat placement is not good as far as getting a lot of peaks and/or nulls in the bass.

Try adjusting the distance setting of the sub on your avr and see if it cleans it up. If that doesn't work experiment with other sub placements - if you can, I know there are limitations to where you can put the sub though.

Possibly the most surprising album I've heard in a long time. Not what I was expecting from a band I heard a very long time ago. If you're familiar with their old stuff you won't recognize this.

Would never guess this is the same band that put out Welcome To Hell.

I had the nagging feeling this had been mentioned previously, that's why I never listed it, but I went back a ways and didn't see it, so here it is.
Pummeling death metal.

Smitty, I heard a great thrashy tune on Liquid Metal in the car today and it's slipped my mind what it was. I swear it was Dismembered and I want to say the song started with a C and had multiple words in the song title. I can't find it on google play. Does that ring a bell? I have heard it before, great groove and very catchy and heavy.
