A momentous occasion. I really dislike deathcore because of its dull monotony, but this one gets away from some of that monotony and is the only one I've ever bought.

Thought I'd throw these in for anyone in the mood to go back to the roots of doom/sludge. More than a hint of Sabbath's first album.

Slow Green Things kind of sounds a tiny bit like Alice in Chains circa Dirt as well as Sabbath.

It's weird though, I don't really get into the studio albums by Within Temptation. The sound is just so much better on the blu ray concert. Check out some of the clips on youtube. It won't have anywhere close to the sound quality of the actual blu ray but will give you an idea if you would like the style of music.

Also, the blu ray Roger Waters The Wall has amazing sound. Like Through the Never it's in 2:35:1 which is amazing if you have a screen with that aspect ratio. It's also in Dolby Atmos. I don't have ceiling speakers an Atmos AVR yet but damn it sounds good. I skip through the non concert parts. Comfortably numb gives me goosebumps so bad that it's almost painful.

Woah. Currently listening/watching this while surfing the forum. I have to see if there is a blu ray of this. I've always loved Devin Townsend.

I'm watching Emperor - Live in Wacken DVD (2008 I think). Thought I'd share...this is a tad shoddy quality, but you get the picture. The DVD isn't bad.

Opeth is coming to Maryland on 30 Sept. I keep telling myself the Russian Royal Ballet doing Swan Lake on the same night will be just as good.

I was so bummed. By the time I finally got the chance to see Opeth they were on their first tour where they no longer played anything heavy. I LOVE their first 6 albums (Orchid through Deliverance) and the only song that was played from any of them was Face of Melinda. It wasn't all bad though, they sounded incredible and Mikael (at least that night) sounded like he was a pitch perfect singer, every note sounded like it did on the albums.

Also, Katatonia opened for them. I hadn't gotten into them but I did after that night. They have a bunch of great albums and sounded amazing live. It's rare for me to be won over by a band live that I hadn't heard much of before but I was loving them by the end of the first song.

I have been on an absolute tear of concerts this year and coming into the fall, have a bunch more. I will be seeing Opeth (with the Sword) in the 3rd row of one of our best Opera halls on the 5th of October followed by Leprous the following night. I am pretty excited to see them finally. I had tickets last time they came to Toronto with In Flames but something came up and had to visit my sister back home.

Tuesday night I saw Fallujah > Between the Buried and Me > Devin Townsend Project. That was the order and oddly my love of those bands is the opposite. I just haven't really spent much time listening to much of DTP that wasn't wacky or weird. I love BTBAM but the harsh vocals aren't my favorite, but I got used to them. Fallujah are freaking amazing. All three bands were insanely tight but the volume was out of control.

Next week I finish off September with Cattle Decapitation in a small rustic venue.

BTW, there are so many albums set to come out over the next few weeks by bands I absolutely love.

Dark Tranquility released a track from their upcoming (I see them in November):

Insomnium's new upcoming concept album got leaked it seems.

Allegaeon's album I think just released.

And Opeth's new tracks are ubiquitous.

I saw Opeth during the Blackwinter Park tour with Amorphis back in 2001. Mikael stepped on his guitar cord and it came unplugged. He picked it up, plugged it back in, and without missing a beat went right back into the song like nothing happened no awkward getting back into the song just BAM right where everyone else was. I was dicking around with playing instruments back then and it was amazing to see. It's hard to explain. hehe

Alright, don't take away my man card. This is far outside my realm of looking for the heaviest stuff on earth and still never finding one that pushes my limits, but I recognize talent when I hear it (especially the vocals). This power-rock/pop-metal song would have been a monster hit in the mid-80's. Decent production too. OK, I'm ready for my beating.
