Even for regular DVD, the PQ is pristine but that is the best part of the movie.

You guys are right about Die Hard's similarities except for Butler vs. Willis. The plot was so ridiculous but still made money for this movie. Not sure about White House Down yet, but I've not seen it.

Antoine Fuqua delivers yet another tight action thriller. Some may say it's dumb, check your brain at the door, bla bla bla but if you like Die Hard it's hard to NOT like this....despite the very ultra stupid over acting president played by A Eckhart which is my "what ever" moments. I never really had a problem with his acting before this but in this film it was utterly nauseous. Oh, and the lead bad guy taking over the world was also very weak and not very convincing as sinister or evil. Couldn't anyone in production or casting find another "Asian" actor other than the guy from the Fast & Furious?

Other than that, the action by Fuqua I guess made up for lots of the bad or over acting. I'm looking forwards to White House Down.

This is that new Die Hard reboot, right? tongue.gif I rather enjoyed this movie quite a bit with all the action, and the killin', and the visuals, and the sound effects! smile.gif I set my expectations low just out of the White House being invaded premise, but have to say it was handled very well (though, I still think the premise is outlandish on its face). Seeing the C130 gunship get its rocks off was terrific!...apart from how it even made it into DC w/o getting blown to bits. The Blackhawk sequence was pretty silly, though. I'm not saying it looked silly, but the idea of still going in despite the little twist to the target was just so silly, it just casts off the military as way-over-the-top dumb (which I believe they at least deserve better than that).

I need your sweet love, Rosetta Stone girl!

I watched most of this yesterday, don't know if I'll bother finishing. When there was action, it was pretty cool, but then there was
the stupidity involved - oh my!.

Watched last night and thought it was a good rental. To say there was a Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Die Hard
influence would be the understatement of the year! smile.gif Some pretty graphic and intense scenes for sure.

This movie will push your sub(s) down low, so be careful. The Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Washington Monument scene was crazy!
had my four subs and dual buttkickers working BIG time!

Great rental, but not worth owning IMO.

I didn't mind this film I did enjoy it but I really thought.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Morgan Freeman should of been President

I will have to watch White House down to see which makes my collection. At the moment I will only buy this if its cheap.

If this movie was done in the late 80's I could see Schwarzenegger playing the role instead. Don't get me wrong I don't mind Gerard but this movie with Schwarzenegger would of earned and extra star.

Aq was good.

Agreed, I thought Butler did a really good job and enjoyed this alot more than expected. A few logic lapses but the good action and GREAT LFE made up for it and was a very fun movie for me and my four 18's IB. I could definately see a larger than life, prime 1980's Arnie nailing this, but for current crop of actors I liked GB here. Viewed Oblivion the night before and I could see buying that on the cheap just fo rthe AV and I could see getting this when it DOES hit the sub $10 range for the movie AND the LFE. smile.gif

wow. pretty bad movie. The attack was just as realistic as a Dumptruck out manuvering two Ferrari's. The CGI when a certain building gets destroyed was REALLY BAD. I thought I was playing a video game.

I see all the Die Hard comparisons and I agree, Butler kind of based his performance on the McClane character or at least was influenced by it. I thought the action was good, but I agree the plane attack was a bit of a stretch to say the least. Also Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Rick Yune is becoming a tired cliche as the Asian villain, makes it very easy to see certain plot twists.
Other then that it was worth the price of rental. YMMV

Not as unbelievable as WHD, but still fairly ridiculous. "Banner" talking to the bad guy via walkie-talkie and giving out way too much info...

rent first.

"I knew you'd say that"...*BLAM!*

He just looked too young in this movie to play the president.

Watching now and the biggest problem is everybody but Butler. This would also be a great flick for Bruce Willis.

Yup, that for starters. But for me in retrospect I thought the direction and over all feel of the movie kinda sucked. I felt like I was watching something from cable. And I'm scratching my head cuz A Fuqua is one of my favs and usually does outstanding work....Tears of the Sun, Training Day, and yes even King Arthur.

Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm going by memory here but wasn't JFK only 43 when they had the election and he won. Also, Theordore Roosevelt was the youngest president at 42.

I think it has more to do with the context of the scene in this movie. The actors playing the role of high ranking personnel looked considerably older than Aaron Eckhart and that made the supposed president look like .... you know ... frown.gif
