Can you think of anyone better suited to direct the Rancor spin-off story? smile.gif

While I haven't seen the new Godzilla movie, I was impressed with what Edward did with Monster. I also liked The Book of Eli, so I'm eager to see what this team comes up with in the Star Wars universe.

I know many people are not fans of JJ Abrams for one reason or another (I for one am) but regardless, I would think any Star Wars fan would appreciate this.

Stars wars 7 completes

Notably, director J.J. Abrams has used his Jedi mind skills and removed “Episode VII” from the title completely — BuzzFeed News has confirmed that it is just Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Oh good, I was afraid this wouldn't have enough shaky-cam or teal-and-orange.

I'm just glad it looks less like a cartoon now and pretty damn badass. I'll take the shaky cam.

The little 'Ball' Droid has me a little concerned. I really hope JJ doesn't 'Disney' this thing up too much!

I get the cynicism, but at the same time I've found Abrams' approach to VFX images to be very compelling. The angles and camera moves were so refreshing compared to the standard video-game-style too-smooth-camera-can-swoop-anywhere approach that had grown so repetitive (to me). I loved the work in the Star Trek movies and they were some of the most convincing worlds and VFX I've ever seen.

The X-wing and Millennium Falcon shots in the teaser look really promising to me as well; iconic subjects, with a fresh take and a more convincing sense of reality and speed. Bring it on!

(All that said, when it started with the desert shot and the "storm trooper" popped his head up into the screen, I thought I'd mistakenly stumbled on to a fan-made gag reel).
