oh it's fairly simple: awful acting, made-for-TV subpar plot with zero originality, sloppy directing... Yes it does have a few redeeming moments, but they are far too few to make the whole film enjoyable. We all have our guilty pleasures, and believe me my list is endless in that departement, but The Last Stand is not one of them.

What about the final fight sequence? biggrin.gif

Margot Robbie is THE most exquisite human creature on the face of the planet, in this moment in time.

Well for me The Last Stand was enjoyable, I enjoyed it. It has high replay value for me.

Watched Bullet to the Head last night, and enjoyed it.....solid action flick.

The super clean "video" look in all these new movies is really distracting to me. I wish they would go back to the old style with the grain.

It also seemed like a wider aspect ratio would've worked better. 1.85 just felt too cheap and cramped.

The SD dvd remastered copy is just amazing itself, they did a crazy job restoring it so Im sure the BD will be just as good.

Well I finally watched cape fear Zoey and you were right Deniro was fantastic in this one.

In order to give a brief acknowledgement of the importance of topicality, let me say that I won't be seeing Bullet to the Head or anything else the 67 and counting Stallone stars in. In my estimation, Sly's Sell By date is long past. smile.gif

Now to the real reason for my post. As much as I enjoyed Scorsese's remake of Cape Fear and De Niro's performance in it, I preferred the original, starring Robert Mitchum as the dastardly Max Cady. Mitchum was perhaps the most underestimated actor in the history of Hollywood. Nobody ever did a better job of playing creepy but weirdly charming villains. Mitchum's performance as a homicidal itinerant preacher in Charles Laughton's wonderful The night of the Hunter was terrific too.

Not trying to crash the thread but it's cool watching another old action star make an awesome comeback. Check out JCVD in In Hell, 6 Bullets, and Wake of Death.
