Opened yesterday, 2/1, starring Sylvester Stallone. Certainly much better than The Last Stand (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Directed by the veteran, Walter Hill, it is certainly worth seeing on a big screen. The film is probably most memorable for the bad guy, Keegan (played by Jason Momoa, starred in Conan the Barbarian), who steals the film from its star.

I saw it yesterday...and I liked it! But, audiences have clearly rejected the "macho-invicible-80's-toughguy" formula smile.gif. This, Last Stand, and Parker all flopped.

But IMO, this movie shouldn't be lumped in with Last Stand. Last Stand had too much unintended comedy. This movie isn't about comedy smile.gif...its about political corruption, hitmen, and bullets smile.gif!

I'm little biased because I vacationed in New Orleans in July and was given the royal treatment and had a good time in the French Quarter and out in the swamps with the gators biggrin.gif!

So it was fun recognizing all the areas the filming took place. I swear I rode by Stallone's swamp house on the tour boat biggrin.gif! This wasn't a prop NO, they filmed in the real city!

The guy that plays the big boss? He did good job of sounding evil and villainous biggrin.gif!

What I'm wondering is, how did they get the city of NO to agree to host a movie filming that portrays it in a fictionalized bad light biggrin.gif?! They needed the revenue I guess?! Its a TRUE portrayal because of the real life political corruption on the city, buy still biggrin.gif! Do your filming here, but rename the city or don't name it biggrin.gif! Everybody from cops to politicians to lawyers are dirty here, LOL!

Its a shoot-em-up, but its one of the better ones. Highly recommend this over the others.

Or maybe they just reject bad movies? wink.gif ...I saw Bullet To The Head last weekend, and was middly entertained. It's fun to watch Stallone in good old fashioned action though.

I keep seeing this trailer and all I see is cheese and more cheese. It's perfect for Starz or Encore movie.

Here's the big gaping hole that's just glaringly clear. Stallone is not in Rocky or Rambo age anymore alright. He needs to accept that and evolve like his colleagues Eastwood, Gibson, Pacino. I mean look at him..have you ever seen a 60 year old with tattoos all over his body It looks so pathetic.

He really needs to chill with all the macho movies like Expendables, Bullet to the head, etc and try to do tight gripping dramas or suspense with some substance and less testosterone. He surely has the talent to go that route I really don't know why he stuck like a broken record with stuff like Bullet to the head..just my 2 cents.

Pfft. There is PLENTY of them 'gripping dramas or suspense with some substance' on the market.

This is pure macho cheese and I love Sly for keeping that rollin'. biggrin.gif

Judging from that stretched out bellybutton and the crater below it, I’d say he has had some waistline surgery. Could be wrong, though.

Working out has been a lifelong hobby of mine, but I’ve never had the desire to look like my skin was going to burst because it couldn’t contain the muscles and blood vessels. I’m more into toning, not ripping.

Stallone is still deep in nostalgia and doesn't want to let go of the good time 80's. it's time to move on and evolve with the times like Cruise. He's not doing Top Gun or rehashing old stale material. If you don't evolve you will become extinct like dinosaurs.

Well, to the dinosaurs credit, they occupied the Earth for about 135 million years, not too shabby for a primitive group wink.gif

...If Tony Scott was still alive, Tom Cruise would be in pre-production for Top Gun 2.

In the movie bizz Hollywood it doesn't matter if you won 10 Oscars or if your all your films raked in 4 billion dollars...it's' the "you're only as good as your LAST film" and Stallone's last good movie was Rocky 4 with Dolph Lundgren in the mid 80's.

Look at Pacino and De Dinero...the casual movie goers who were born in 79 onwards don't really know them or what they have accomplished. They just know Meet the Parents...ask them have they seen Raging bull or Cape Fear they have no idea.

I think his last "really" good movie was Rocky Balboa, and before that Cop Land. Even the last Rambo was surprsingly good imo. Expendables, Bullet To The Head, these are not to be taken seriously. Just a romp and a wink at the 80s.

This film tanked because it had ZERO push behind it. The studio dumped it.

Stallone has had some hits in his resurgence. Rocky Balboa, John Rambo, and the two Expendables all made money and the first two of those four had good reviews (deservedly so).

OMG Frank please tell me you're joking. With your amazing HT you must, I repeat MUST cue up or just buy a copy, the one by Martin Scorcese. IMO prob one of De Niro's best work and highly entertaining character he portrayed in the movie. Please tell me you'll see it this month and let me know what you think.

The SD dvd remastered copy is just amazing itself, they did a crazy job restoring it so Im sure the BD will be just as good.

OH MY ******* GOD!!! This was a real stinker! Anyone wanna know why R rated B action films are not being made? Look no further than this pile of sh!t. 55 million? Really? Where's the money?!?! Oh that's right, it went to Stallone, Joel Silver and the 12 other producers on this brown stain.

This film felt low budget. It screamed it. And the script was lame, lazy, lifeless and at times insultingly bland.

Song Kang is shot in the shoulder, doesn't bleed to death and is sewn up by a tattoo artist and yes, runs around the rest of the film without feeling any pain or limitations on his movement.

I could go on, but I won't. Well, ok, I will mention to CGI blood. ENOUGH!!! STOP USING IT! It's FAKE! There are these things called SQUIBS!

The only positive in this turd is Jason Momoa (or however you spell his name) who has good energy as a bad guy. He'd make a great villain in a better film.

Ummm,.. 1st of all this was NOT anywhere better than The Last Stand, period. It didn't have the budget, production or cast as TLS.

That out of the way, I thought it was not bad relative to most of the junk Stallone gets involved in. Prob it had mostly to do with Walter Hill who gave us the iconic 48 hrs and this one felt a lot like it. Just missing Axel Folley and Nick Nolte buddy cop match up. It's funny to see Hill with his usual stuff like the trashy hill billy bar standard in all his movies(What's his deal with that BTW) The plot is fairly good but some of the dialogue was very "B" movie-ish.

Stallone did ok, his partner that token asian guy from F6 was dismal bad...really bad. His delivery and lines were so amateurish. Like I said the the plot is pretty good and that's what will keep most viewers entertained with their tub of popcorn.
