Looks fun. Looks like Ghostbusters meets Men In Black.

Looks interesting to me. I don't get audio at work, but without any of the dialogue it looks pretty good. Maybe movies would be better this way?biggrin.gif

The big guy looked like Jeckyl and Hyde from Van Helsing and the gal reminded me of Flo from the insurance commercials - it does look fun.

Basically the dialogue was Jeff making snarky comments to the rookie, Ryan. Much like K and J in MIB. Oh and the hot blonde and old fellow are how they appear to the living.

Interesting title for this thread. I thought the both of them had just died in a sudden and simultaneous old man/crappy actor accident.

This filmed in Boston last year, very near my office. For some reason, the production dressed up a newstand to look like a VCR repair shop.

To say the least, I am not a Ryan Reynolds fan. He seems to me to be the pretty boy from central casting in almost everything he is in. I really like Jeff Bridges, though. Still I have reservations about R.I.P.D.. As others have already noted, in the trailer, Bridges looked and sounded like a reincarnation of his Rooster Cogburn performance in the Coen brothers' True Grit. Not saying I won't see it under any circumstances but I need to get some feedback before I do. It looks far too derivative to convince me to see it in the theater on Day One.

Watched this last nite.
Pure check-your-brain-at-the-door kinda movie.
Entertaining enough for a single viewing, but that's it.

Although there are some laughs, poor CGI, a mumbling Jeff Bridges, and lousy writing make this a one-off if nothing else is available IMO.

Pretty dreadful on opening day at the theater and there is no need to ever see it again. Another one of those movies in which the movie, itself, could not deliver what the trailer hinted at.

It's a shame when an actor with Bridges' credentials ends up in something this bad. He might have known though. After all, Ryan Reynolds is his costar. smile.gif

True.
I think another problem is ANYONE who saw the trailer instantly knew it was a rip-off of MiB.

A big paycheck can mean a lot for almost anyone.
BTW, JB way Way WAY over-the-top performance didn't help the film either.

I know many folks don't like him (probably because of his list Hollywood conquests and the smarty-pants characters he often plays), but I don't really mind the guy.

Ryan Reynolds was fine in Safe House, but that also had Denzel Washington in it to cover him.

It's fun-ish for a rental. Mary Louise Parker was funny, but, over all was a complete hack job of a movie. I still enjoyed it, I think? It is all fading away... tongue.gif

I haven't seen it and probably won't until it shows up on one of the premium cable channels. I agree, though, that Mary Louise Parker is a terrific actress, charming and funny, and a welcome addition to anything she is in. I loved her in Weeds. It is no surprise that in addition to her wonderful work in television and films, she has won a Tony Award on Broadway. The lady has skills and she isn't bad looking, either. smile.gif

I fell asleep watching this, not the best film and Bridges character annoyed me in this film.

I have absolutely zero interest in this movie, except for Mary Louise Parker. If I end up watching this exceptional piece of art, it's on her.

(a shame that Jeff Bridges even agreed to do this!)
