Because it's not allowed in schools anymore because it causes kids to single out other kids, which is regarded as a form of abuse and society feels that it's better to prevent kids from learning how to stick up for and defend themselves in an effort to condition them for real life.

Sorry, blacked out there. Did the movie come out yet? biggrin.gif

The first movie was hysterical.
Hopefully, lightening will strike twice with the sequel.

My 10 year old plays it at his school, granted he's not in public school, but they still play it during P.E.

I used to work at the local Boys and Girls Club. We stopped using those traditional red balls and started using those cheap light plastic Walmart balls. I understand they still use them.

Dodgeball without the red rubber balls is NOT dodgeball.

Oh, and before I forget, dodgeball without wrenches is not....tongue.gif

Dodgeball wasn't a game. It was tween angst unleashed. It was a badge of honor to get nailed and still stand, to take someone's feet out from underneath then with a well-aimed throw, to show off a large bruise. Lawyers have sucked the very testosterone out of being a kid on the verge of being a young man. A pox on them, their profession, and those thinking their "protecting" the children.

One of my favorite games in gym class when I was in school many years ago. I was a regular kid in school, but nothing was as sweet as getting a headshot to one of the punks or jocks in the gym class. We called it murder ball.

Well, it got to the point where trying to explain the big red welts to the parents when they came to pick up their kids became tiring.

You could really fling those red balls, the light hollow balls did far less damage.

I guess I came from a different era.
Back-in-the-day, parents didn't give a rat's a$$ if their kids had nicks, cuts, bruises....it was just considered part of growing up.wink.gif

Amen. Unless your eyeball was out of its socket and hanging by a thread, you put a Band-Aid on it and went back outside. Oh yeah...and get off my lawn. wink.gif

When I was a kid and got hurt for doing something I was not supposed to be doing, I got a whack from my mother for doing it. Not today though, kids and teenagers are babied and coddled, nothing but a bunch of crybabies. sorry If I offended anyone. LOL.

Can't offend anybody here. I think we're all over 90...or fast approaching it eek.gif

Yup, sometimes you just had to suck it up and, if asked, say you "fell down."wink.gif

Me too, mom would give me a proper swatting, I'd threaten to call CPS and she's say "go ahead, call them, you think it's bad here just want until you get to a foster home!!!" threat rescinded. tongue.gif We have some damn serious problems with younger generations today as is evidenced by some horrific things we see them doing in recent years.

I say let the red rubber balls fly! Surrender your phones when you walk in the front door of your home, no trophies for losers so dust yourself off and keep trying, hard lessons and good values. But above all the kids must know the 5 rules: dodge, dip, duck, dive, and... dodge tongue.gif

I was a young teenager living in Wisconsin at the time, and a bunch of us kids were ice skating at an outside rink. I don’t remember what I said to piss this girl off, but she must have envisioned my leg was a football, because he imbedded her figure skating toe picks into my shinbone. Those toe picks went through my jeans like a knife through soft butter. I thought I was going to die. I went home and told my mother what happened, and she said I’d live. End of discussion. Same response when I frostbit my ear. Ah, the good old days. rolleyes.gif

Don't even get me started about T-Ball. When I found out nobody kept score and everyone was a winner, I went ballistic and forbade my daughter from playing. Taught her there were winners and losers with nothing in-between. If you won, you basked in the glory. If you lost, you went back to practicing so you might eventually win. As Syndrome said in "The Incredibles"..."When everyone's super, no one will be." Is it any wonder why we're a nation of pill-poppers? Soon as something happens that mommy and daddy can't fix, out comes the medication so they can feel better.
