^Like that, as well as some others you posted.

I've been listening to alot of Asian artists lately, including a fair amount of K-pop (and also some Thai-pop). And there's no doubt they're sophisticated music-makers. Even the pop groups throw alot of interesting/jazzy touches into their tracks, which I enjoy.

Most are decent or at least passable live performers as well, though they'll often sing over their own recordings like American artists, usually while performing a dance routine (which takes some skill).

Continuing your rain theme...

The band El Ten Eleven, doing their song My Only Swerving live, which is quite an accomplishment for a two piece group to pull off without computer help. The guitarist/bassist uses a looper live to layer parts, which is a pretty dangerous way to live (make a mistake and it just keeps repeating for that whole section). And he's playing a double neck which he sometimes plays with both hands (one per neck.)

They provide the music for the excellent documentary Helvetica, about the ubiquitous font face. That's where I ran across them. They have some quite atmospheric stuff.

And Imogen Heap using the same live looper technique with a pure vocal performance of Just for Now, which I think it beautiful.

I love this tune from Bright Eyes. It's obviously very primitively made, but it has atmosphere to spare, and the song writing is quite clever and well done.

Spun up Alice In Chains Unplugged this morning followed by Lightning Bolt from Pearl Jam. Alt-J is next.

I'd never really heard of Alt-J, but it's some pretty interesting stuff. It would be difficult to count up all of the influences crammed into single songs, but it works. I like this one a lot:

I had a tough time falling asleep last night, so I went through Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here" and "Dark Side of the Moon"...I hadn't listened to those full-through in a long time.
