Right now, listening to Love Is Blindness by Jack White. Which is actually a much better version than U2's original song... *imo* smile.gif

I queued up a bunch of tingly stuff tonight to listen to while working. The highlights, in terms of which one actually got the best tingle effect for my mood tonight:

1. Smashing Pumpkins, Porcelina. Love that tune, it's an epic piece and a masterpiece of rock production.
2. Sia, The Church of What's Happening Now. If you've never listened to her "Colour the Small One" album, check it out. She's got pipes that completely embarrass most of her contemporaries. And this tune is particular powerful.
3. Regina Spektor, Fields Below. Way over-compressed album, but this is a great tune with a huge tingle factor
4. Tori Amos, Winter. Little Earthquakes is a great album full of amazing tunes.
5. Nick Drake, The Way to Blue. An amazing album and tune.
6. Frou Frou, Let Go. From the Garden State soundtrack, all of which is good.
7. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Simple Man. Going back to my roots a bit on that one, but it's always a classic.
8. Lisa Germano, From a Shell. An all time champion tingle tune.
9. Bob Marley, Redemption Song. Always loved this one.
10. Zero Seven, In the Waiting Line. Also from the Garden State soundtrack

10. Zero Seven, In the Waiting Line. Also from the Garden State soundtrack, and with Sia from above on vocals.

Nice list, for the most part. I've seen Regina Spektor live (opening for Tom Petty, for goodness' sake -- how exactly do their respective fans overlap?), and it was torture getting though her set. I did sort of enjoy one of her songs performed live on Letterman though, and there is one hit of hers that I like OK.

"The Church of What's Happening Now" is indeed Sia's song, but it's on her 2004 album Colour the Small One. Simple Things is Zero Seven's album from 2001, featuring Sia as one of the vocalists on two of the tracks, but it is not her album. It contains "In the Waiting Line," also on the Garden State soundtrack as you note, but Sia does not sing the vocals on that track; Sophie Barker does. I agree Sia is terrific. I have her "Some People Have Real Problems" album.

"Simple Man" is one of Skynyrd's best, and that's saying a lot. "Redemption Song" is great too, but Marley didn't put out much that wasn't really grooving.

Oops, the album name mixup was just me getting my wires crossed since I was talking about both artists and ended up mentioning the wrong one's album. I have both of those CDs in my collection and like them both a lot.

But I'd always thought Sia was the one singing on "In the Waiting Line", and never head anyone say otherwise. Oh well, you learn something every day.

On Regina Spektor, I guess I'm not that shocked, since she's pretty obviously a creature of the modern, digital world, where almost everyone sounds far better on record than they can possibly actually perform, though of course you have always take into account that you saw someone on a particularly bad night as well,

It's not that she sounded bad, but she was playing as the late afternoon crowd was pouring into the open amphitheater. They came to see and hear Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, a very rocking Southern band with 35 years of playing and a huge catalog. Her style of music simply clashed with everyone's expectations and hardly warmed them up or complimented Petty's musical style. How she got hooked up with his tour -- maybe just for that date and venue, for all I know -- is beyond me.

David & Co. were in pretty good form on this version of Scary Monsters, with R. Gabrels ripping up lead guitar.

Think I still like Iggy's version of this best (produced by David), but it's fun to hear George rock out on this as well.

Jools Holland was in the band Squeeze from the 70s and 80s. He's a big name in the biz these days.

Shirley Mansons voice always puts me in a trance smile.gif Ever hear her speak? She's got a super thick Scottish accent. Damn hot.

Oprah ain't so bad lookin... on a good day... after a few beers. I'd be ok with skinny white, black, brown or green Oprah, if she brought some good alternative vibes. :)

Only saw Bowie perform live once, during the 80's. But he had a rep for using the best musicians in the biz.

I'm sure I have, on one of the late night shows. She was also in the "Terminator: Sarah Connors Chronicles" TV series, which I haven't seen.

Didn't know that about Holland btw, but I do remember a few of Squeeze's tunes from back in the day, including "Tempted" and these others...

Every time I see Oprah, I can't help but think she looks like "Ogra" from the movie The Dark Crystal! LOL
