I just bought the Comfort Eagle CD and I'm loving all of it. Such a unique sounding band from my high school days.

I was about to say that it's sad that we'll probably never get to see "Urgh! A Music War" on disc. However, I checked first and it is out on DVD!! Came out in 2009 - finally!!!!

I bought it the day it came out, waited for years. The DVD structure is not real good and it looks like its ported from a VHS, but its basically all there.

Yup! biggrin.gif

Their lyrics remind me a lot of Zappa's in some regards.

Huh, because of that (you reminded me of something) I can honestly say that I'm listening to the below right now.

I have to be an egotistic jerk here - while most people have probably heard it, if you haven't, well, you either get it or you don't. In case it turns out that you do, turn your setup to the loudest level you can reasonably use, then click play. If you're one who gets it, you'll get chills - feel it in your onions as one comment puts it.

Thanks for that post. Sam Cooke was one hell of a singer and songwriter. It's a shame he was killed near the peak of his career. It had been a tough year for him after losing his baby boy. I'm currently reading a biography of Jimi Hendrix, and it's clear that early in Jimi's career Cooke was an R&B legend and played a small but important part in the trajectory of Jimi's future stardom (Jimi toured with him briefly and dated, lived with, and became very close with Cooke's ex-girlfriend, who played a vital role in many of his gigs in NYC).

Yeah, Sam broke ground for a lot of future artists that are better known now. That's really interesting about the Hendrix connection. I checked their age difference, and Jimi would have basically come of age when Cooke was at his prime. Small world ...

I hate to admit my ignorance, but I always thought of Cooke as a songwriter until one day, years ago, I downloaded the mp3 of the above on usenet.
