For older fare, I suppose you could start with To Kill a Mockingbird, On The Waterfront and Gentlemen's Agreement.

A movie to avoid is Project X.

Lincoln is a good choice. As is The Help.

I'll add Kick-Ass to the mix as well.

MANY movies in this category. Let me mention a few that come to mind.

The Shawshank Redemption

Pan's Labyrinth

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas

The Pianist

Kick-Ass (also mentioned above - WARNING - not everyone gets this one and the violence is strong)

The Flowers Of War (with Christian Bale)

American Beauty

The Fall (with Lee Pace - I think there is another movie named the same)

The Lion King

Gone Baby Gone

Tae Guk Ki (Korean war movie)

American History X

Enjoy!

Yeah, I almost mentioned Kill Bill, but thought the violence might be too much.

Really all of Tarantino's movies are morality plays, though presented in a manner that not everyone will find palatable.

EXCELLENT recommendation!

Near the end of that movie I was literally sweating, with my heart about to pound out of my chest. Intense!

A few more that come to mind:

Hotel Rwanda

Million Dollar Baby

Gran Torino

The Last King of Scotland

and featuring the greatest actor of our generation (or any other) Bubba Ho-Tep

Excellent recommendation, I have the BD and it's very involving - a frightening exploration of human failing and frailty, but as always, the good guys manage to hang on by their fingernails.

Ink. Morals include priorities (career vs. family and relationships), ego vs. selflessness, and the ability to turn around your life once you head down the wrong path.
