Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up to bust out of the most technologically advanced and fortified prison ever built in the film formerly known as The Tomb, but now known as Escape Plan. The first trailer has arrived as promises all the old man butt-kicking and one-liners that can possibly be stomached.

Stallone plays prison security expert Ray Breslin who makes a living out of exposing prison design flaws so they can be remedied before a prisoner takes advantage of them. As fate would have it, Breslin is framed for a crime he didn't commit and throw into The Tomb, a prison that supposedly offers "no hope of escape."

While in prison, Breslin calls upon Schwarzenegger as Swan Rottmayer for assistance in finding a way out. The two rivals must work together to escape and ultimately find out who framed Breslin and give them an old fashioned butt whooping.

Escape Plan co-stars Jim Caviezel, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Vinnie Jones, Vincent D'Onofrio and Amy Ryan, is directed by Mikael Hafstrom, and is scheduled to expose whatever flaw in The Tomb that Stallone can when it arrives in theaters everywhere on October 18 of this year.

No doubt it would have been interesting to see what the two of them would have done being in a film 20-30 years ago, bummer it didn't happen. I will be in for giving this one a go at the theater

Just got back. Had to wash the nostalgia off the jacket.

I have to say I was impressed. The chemistry of the two leads worked. There wasn't really any corny stupidity this go round, and I would definitely rewatch this over "The Expendables".

The story was pretty well thought out, albeit a little outside the scope of reality, but not far enough to be totally disconnected.

The leads were awesome. They got their groove going and really established a raport throughout that got better. To that end, the humor they pull off is ACTUALLY funny, not just nudge/wink stuff. And Arnold is really funny when given the chance. I was blown away.

The twist definitely caught me off guard for sure. Very well played people.

Granted I am a child of the '80s and love me some Action Movie Saturdays (what we call them at my house). I'm not 100% sure I can put this up there with the likes of "The Running Man" or "Demolition Man'....but it's growing on me more as I get ready for bed. It will definitely hit the Bluray collection and get some extra viewings.

And yes..."You hit like a vegetarian!" IS funny! But it isn't even the funniest line Arnold pulls in the movie. If you're looking for an excuse to see something fun and entertaining this is it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Stallone headliner. I would go on to add that this is perhaps Stallone's best movie since.....Rocky 3? Ya, I said it. Maybe cause it also had a pretty stacked cast.

Stallone is his usual self, over playing & trying a bit too hard to "be cool" or tough that you sort of say whatever but thank god this time he surrounded himself with a talented and well known actors along with a decent plot story to fall on. Whereas before it as all on him to carry the film on his shoulder so it was swim or sink. And what's even more remarkable for me was the fact that I normally don't like films where it's all mostly contained in one area i.e. Panic Room, Phone Booth, etc.

Everyone did their part rather well, even "It's my Burt day" 50 sent. Arnold is charismatic as always. But the character I kinda liked most was the bad guy J Caviezel who has spent most of his careers playing Joe 6 pack and the martyr next door. He really made you fear or hate him, quite impressive being that this is the 1st time he portrayed an evil adversary. I was thinking now this is what good acting is like when it's done right.

The 2nd part of the surprised was that this ended up being a lot better than Runner Runner.

What about his bad guy role in Deja Vu (2006)?

Caviezel is an under rated actor. If you haven't watched Person of Interest on CBS do so, he makes a most interesting Mr. Reese.

"If you build it they will come.." Ok, what is this "It" you speak of and who, are they???! Do I want to know?...

This is a decent flick. Different role for Sly and a nice addition to his list. Felt very much like some of the recent Van Damme pictures that are giving him a great comeback.

I must admit that one thing that surprised me when I watched the film was Arnold's acting. Much better than I expected.

I tried to watch Sly in Bullet to the Head last nite.
His strutting around like a peacock on steroids/HGH was too much.
It just destroyed the film.

Pretty sad the guy doesn't realize how creepy he has become visually.rolleyes.gif

Netflix sent me this today. Looking forward to watching it. Hope it's as good as Last Stand and Bullet To the Head.

I'd say slightly better than LS and a lot better than BTTH only due to it being so different for Sly. LS had much higher production values and this doesn't but if you dig Sly and Ahhhnold you'll probably like this.

I'd agree with this assessment. BTTH seems better actually with a repeat viewing. I liked this and Last Stand equally. It's nice to see the guys doing their thing again.

I know, isn't that hilarious? I mean, still trying to be tough & cool with all those tattoos like he actually belongs to some gang or something. And the way he does that strut/walk reminds me of a weak wanna be John Wayne impersonation.
