There were better ways to handle it, certainly, but he did kind of get shafted.

I can understand him feeling slighted out of a proportionate raise that might have been awarded to RDJr, Gwyneth Paltrow or even Clark Gregg, but I guess it was a way for the showrunners to sideline him in favor of someone like Cheadle who could better play Rhody/War Machine/Iron Patriot in the sequels once the Iron Man movie became such a huge success. I can't imagine the eternally mopey Howard being as bad ass as Don Cheadle playing War Machine in Iron Man 2. Howard was an acceptable Rhody but he is no War Machine. It turned out for the better in the end, and I am excited to see Cheadle and War Machine return to screen in Avengers 2.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Howard is a notoriously difficult actor to work with, than anything specific to his performance.

In case anyone was wondering why Iron Man didn't ask for help from any Avengers in IM3 I found this theory very insightful.

That's pretty damn funny.

Stephen.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

His arrogance is pretty well known in Tinsel-town. He should be upset with himself.
