The director is Tony Scott, so I was expecting a quality film.

There was just too much political overtone here which I found distracting. The ending is too simple-minded Hollywood finish. I did not realize that one of the stars Marling co-wrote the script. She has an interesting educational background, graduated from Georgetown with a BA in economics but turned down a job in Goldman.

The movie is about an eco-terrorist group called The East and how Marling infiltrated the group. I enjoyed the movie until the end of the 2nd "jam"; found it difficult to believe but then I do not have a terrorist's mindset. There are 3 jams in this movie and the last one has an interesting twist to it.

7 out of 10. Rental only.

The movie was interesting, but the simplistic and heavy-handed sociopolitical themes really did pull it down.

The setup and beginning were handled really well, and set the stage for what was to come, but I'd have to agree with dragonbud0 that it started to come apart at the second jam.

It was interesting that the star of the movie (Marling) played an infiltrator to a fringe group in this movie, while playing the leader of a fringe group being infiltrated by an investigator in Sound of My Voice. Both movies started out with really strong premises, but fell apart at the end.

The acting was solid, all around, as was the direction. The characters were well-drawn, and believable.

It was flawed, but worth a rental.

Scott
