Hmm, hopefully after this film Mr Bay gets replaced and the series rebooted. It's not that I hate his films but it takes what makes Transformers special and completely disregards it. Hopefully the film is more like the last third of Transformers 3, meaning a more serious and darker tone with only a small sprinkling of humor and not the crude and embarrassingly bad humor such as a robot humping a girls leg.

Also in terms of 3d, please actually be not afraid to have some more depth in the image. Giant robots fighting practically screams amazing 3d and what we got was minimal depth making the difference between viewing in 2d and 3d rather minimal which it should not have been.

Transformers 4 is NOT a reboot. It takes place after the events of TF3.

+1. Especially now that Shia LaBeouf has been replaced with Mark Wahlberg! Huge upgrade there. The Sam Witwicki character (all the Witwicki's actually) got really old really quick. mad.gif The dad was probably the least annoying character but they all need to go. Now while I liked all these movies (to varying degrees), I agree with the earlier comment about the crude humor. It needs to go also. That was not in the original Transformers that many of us still hold near and dear to our hearts and as James Cameron has proven time and again, you don't need crude humor to draw in the crowds, you just need a well written and acted movie. At least they still have Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime. Wouldn't be the same without him.

This is about the Dinobots

Dont know how this is gonna work. Dinobots were autobots going against Devastator(constructicons) who was already shown and destroyed in Transformers 2.

Bay is all over the place in the transformers universe right now. and I dont have high hopes for any of his movies in this series anymore.

I'll give a big ol' +1 on this point! This is by far the most disappointing thing for me about the 2nd and 3rd installments. I think mainly because I took my kids to see (Revenge of the Fallen) blindly thinking it would be like the first. It's as if the writers ran out of things to say so they just injected some curse words to go along with the crude humor to make it work.

I didn't mind the third instalment it was Revenge of the fallen that was horrible. ( that was the time they had the writers strike on )

The writer's strike doesn't explain why the first and third movies are just as dumb. Or every Michael Bay movie, for that matter.

I dunno, the first installment was just fine. They should've stopped there, though.

Love or hate them, the Transformers movies generally have good VFX. Why does the CGI in this ad look so cartoony? Could Michael Bay not afford ILM this time?

The 1st and 3rd Transformers were good watchable junk, this one looks really awful, why does a robot need a parachute? rolleyes.gif
The only good thing about this movie is Sophia Myles is in it, she's been laying low ever since Moonlight ended.

So they don't crash into the ground and smash into a million pieces - the same reason anything else falling from a great height would need a parachute.

I'm no fan of Michael Bay, but that's not a complaint I'd have against him.

This look just as awful as 2 and 3. Which where travesties of movie making, in my opinion. There were parts of 3 that made absolutely no sense, and were basically just the screen screaming at you, with crap happening every second, and bright flashes of light. The script was horrible and so was the acting and "story". This....based on these few seconds, looks like more of the same. The teaser shows nothing but transformers and Marky Mark. Guess what.....we know there are transformers in the movie, and Marky Mark shouldn't be the only selling point. It just looks horrible.

I'll still go see it, but it looks like $h!t.

I thought it was a pretty bad trailer too. I just need a proper teaser trailer to fully brainwash myself into enjoying this new one. biggrin.gif

Whatever you have to do. smile.gif

2 was so bad and the third was worse. There could have been some really fun movies in there but was fuster clucked with stupid writing and acting.

I remember the first one very fondly and the sense of reality in the action scenes and the human moments actually added to the movie. It's like Bay took all the worst things from the first and played them up and left out all the heart and decent moments for 2 and 3.

The all-too-common method for making sequels: that more is better. This was rampant with #2, Bay ramped up the robots and the juvenile humor and the editng cuts from #1, and left out everything else.

No, more is NOT always better.

Yup. Both definitely fall into the what I like to call "sequel-itis". I don't need to point out any examples to any of you guys though. We all know this stuff. tongue.gif

I used to have trouble doing the shut your brain off thing. Then Hollywood taught me that if I'm going to watch any movies, I'll have to shut my brain off.
