I am starting a thread which I'll keep updated with a list of the best concerts on either BluRay or DVD that fits the following criteria. Please recommend and I'll add them to the list here:

The reason I am doing this is because recently I bought the Noesis speakers from JTR and they sound FANTASTIC, and now, I can't stop looking for live performances or music that have DTS soundtracks in them because these speakers bring out the entire dynamic range. You feel like you're there. Unfortunately too many concerts DVDs are not recorded well so finding a good recording is like looking for the needle in a haystack.

Criteria:

- Must be recorded in DTS and extremely nice Sound Quality.
- There are lots of nice concerts out there, but a lot of them have poor recording and terrible dynamics. Don't include those.

Ok, here goes the list:

I put comments in for those that I have watched. If you own a kickass speaker / sound system, some of these are great for demo materials. I put them in the brackets.

  • Dido - Live at Brixton Academy (5 Star - This is my absolute favorite. Dido's performance was absolutely the best and her voice is so damn good. The best demo material for speakers, especially the song 'White Flag' which I play at least once a day. Why isn't there a bluray version??)
  • Andrea Bocelli - Live in Tuscany (Seen, it's awesome. Elisa's solo act would be a great demo material for your speakers)
  • Roy Orbison - Black & White Night (Absolutely great vocals and zero noise floor.)
  • Yanni - Live at El Morro (Great addition. Nightingale's voice was angelic and a definitely great demo)
  • The Eagles - Farewell 1 Tour - Live From Melbourne (2005) (Great stuff, great recording)
  • Cream: Life at the Royal Albert Hall (2005)
  • Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense (1984) (A bit strange, but good quality sound)
  • Neil Young: Heart of Gold (2006)
  • Billy Joel - Live at Shea Stadium (Non DTS, so as good as it can get with Dolby, which in my mind, can't compare to DTS)
  • Procol Harum live at Union Chapel
  • U2 Live at the Rosebowl (bad picture quality but great sound quality)

Ok, keep the suggestions coming and I'll add to this list.

The Eagles : Farewell 1 Tour - Live From Melbourne (2005)

Cream: Live at the Royal Albert Hall (2005)

Talking Heads : Stop Making Sense (1984) - may be Dolby only but don't let that stop you. The use of the center speaker on this mix is fantastic.

Neil Young: Heart of Gold (2006)

There's more but I guarantee these have "extremely nice Sound Quality"

You are right, that Dido is very good. What ever happened to that chick?

Thanks Tack,

I have added them. I will check out those suggestions myself.

As for Dido, I think she's got a new album out 2013 - Girl Who Got Away...

I wish they would re-master her concert live in Brixton into Blu-Ray.. that is absolutely the best thing I have ever watched...

Oh no. This is the reason why I hate all these protections.... they don't help anyone...

I guess you either have to find a player that plays all regions or rip it then use a media player or return it. I would return it n get the proper region.

U2 Live at the rose bowl.

Horrendous video quality, but the sound is reference.

DTS MA 5.1

Listen to the crowd sing Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For and Stand By Me. Awesome!
