This one makes the transition to the small screen well. Still just as awesome as it was at the theater. Second only to Robocop 2014. God almighty I love rum. Thank you. That is all. And long live Alex Murphy.

Stephen.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

Ok, I know this movie is old news and it's been a little while since I have watched it. But I happened to catch a broadcast of it the other night and I just need someone to give me a good reason as to why this movie wasn't nominated for best picture and possibly even some acting nominations? I know there are a number of biases in award nomination, sci-fi, action type flicks being no exception, but this particular movie is IMO set so far apart from the rest of the crowd in this genre that it can't help but be viewed as a "regular" type of movie. That's pretty much all I got and perhaps am not really expecting the conversation to really go anywhere but I just felt it had to be said...again.

The average age for Oscar voters is 63 and not interested in watching comic book movies.

It's just not an Oscar friendly movie. But, then, the Oscars themselves are ridiculous. I've watched Winter Soldier probably 8-10 times since it came out and love it. I saw Birdman once and that was enough.

Stephen.

Agreed.
But it is evolving...next year, we will be having racial quotas.

Its a better comic book movie, but in the end that's what it is. When viewed as a movie relative to others, there is nothing esp great about it, and it doesn't fall into Oscar-bait territory, quite the opposite.

The problem (for me) is, Oscar-bait movies tend to have very little replay-value; been this way for at least a dozen years now.
