That romantic stuff always seems to weigh down a good story. Man, I haven't even opened up Monsters U yet.redface.gif

Waboman, Monsters U did a great job of telling how they met and became friends.

+1 Incredible shadow rendering that shortens the gap between animation and reality.

Frozen looks good but if the music is corny I'll lose interest real quick, hopefully the music is solid and at least somewhat contemporary.

The music in Frozen in contemporary but it's so incredibly repetitive. Anyone else feel that way?

I'm no fan of musicals and felt the tunes in Frozen were plenty varied and the correct themes were repeated throughout. That said I do feel contemporary music is very repetitive.

Found it is as boring as it appears to be in the trailer, and I hate "that song". My opinion aside, the Disney unit has another hit on their hands outside of Pixar.

Doesn't hold a candle to Tangled, IMO, but try telling that to millions of 8 year-olds.

"But I didn't do it...!"
"I knew you'd say that"...*BLAM!*

Interesting. If Disney learned anything from it's many failed animated sequels and the success of Marvel's Avengers it would roll with this theory and bring at least the Frozen and Tangled cast together for a very unique Disney sequel. Of course it would have 42 songs and be 3.5 hours long but hey... let it go;)

***SPOILERS AHEAD, In case you're reading this and haven't seen 'Frozen'.***

For me, outside of the opening 10 minutes, Olaf's few funny moments, and the sibling centric climactic ending, the movie was just blah. Everything was so contrived. I expect cliches, especially from Disney films, but this was too much. The young adventurous sister falls for the first guy she meets, but there's a back-up guy ready for her almost immediately after. Most of the characters actually felt very campy and annoying. You may also notice that according to this movie, men are either stupid or cannot be trusted.

The songs, which were horrendous to my ears, sounded like they were pulled from a lame Broadway show. When I heard "Let It Go" at the Oscars, I couldn't believe that was winning best song. Still, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, thinking that it will probably be better in the movie... Meh... However, I really liked the tribal chanting at the beginning and towards the end. Maybe I'm nuts (well, not maybe), but this felt like something that should have went straight to home release. Clearly, I'm the odd one out since it took over a billion dollars from little girls and parents around the world. I give it a "C".

Personally, I thought 'Brave' gave us a far more unconventional female character who embodied strength and did not go for the cliched boy/girl story line at all. They flat out went for the mother/daughter love and Merida's love for her freedom. To me, that was a far better example of a strong female character who still had vulnerabilities and didn't need a "hot guy" to make her happy. Not to mention the connection between the two main characters in 'Brave' was a lot stronger than it was in 'Frozen'. Perhaps more than a single play session and accident between Anna and Elsa would have made me care more about their relationship. A little look at 'Up' shows us how crucially important the back story can be.

I agree with all of this. Frozen was about 30 minutes of plot, the rest just a mixture of annoying musical numbers and fillers.

I also thought that Brave was a much better, and more charming movie.

Scott
