Yeesh. That's not good.

Was already having a hard time gaining interest in this and this push back might justify that lack of interest.

Allegedly, the delay was needed to give the Wachowskis time to complete the visual effects. Whether that's true or not, I have no idea.

It sounds like a sci-fi version of The Bodyguard.

Damn. That's a long time to "complete the visual effects" for something that was totally coming out, for sure, this summer.

Sounds like reshoots to me. That or they already know it's a stinker.

Well s**t.

I suspect the test screenings (if there was any) may have caused the studio to seek a redux of the film.

Whatever the case, it's still not a good sign.

Devil's Advocate time. Although it may not necessarily take an additional seven months to complete the visual effects, if the Wachowskis genuinely needed one extra month, it may make more sense for the studio to delay the film until next year rather than open it in the dog days of August when theater attendance is traditionally down.

I imagine that the fall schedule is already packed with Oscar contenders the studio doesn't want to move. Warner recently had big success with a February release of The Lego Movie and may be convinced that February is a viable time to open a blockbuster.

That's certainly possible as well. However, even a delay for reshoots may not necessarily be a death sentence for the film. Pretty much everyone scoffed and feared the worst when Paramount yanked both World War Z and G.I. Joe: Retaliation from their scheduled 2012 releases and pushed them both back a year for reshoots. Ultimately, that was the best decision they could have made. Both movies did better in 2013 than they would have at their original dates and turned out to be quite profitable.

Warners has woken up to that are too many big budget movies released in the summer, just don't expect them to admit it.

"Bring out yer dead!".."Wait I'm not dead yet!"..(Sound Austrian here) "WRONG !!" (You know what happens next..)
