It will do much better overseas ; domestic is only 60 million at the moment. Not a good sign with a 180 million budget... Critics have praised the film so I guess people are just not interested in it unfortunately.

The ad campaign for the movie has been absolutely ineffective with a one dimensional and utterly simplistic narrative. Even after the positive word of mouth the movie garnered after the first week, the ads remained the same.

Yeah, Edge of Tomorrow may be the unfortunate summer blockbuster that turns out to be too smart for its own good. I know that some of the sci fi nerds decry it for being too mainstream Hollywood but, because my nerdiness lies in other areas, I thought the film worked and was, by the standards of blockbusters anyway, rather intelligent..

It's already made 3X internationally than what's it's made domestically. (boxoffice mojo)

Domestic: $60,757,129 25.1%
Foreign: $181,000,000 74.9%
Worldwide: $241,757,129

And it hasn't even opened in Japan yet, where it will debut with the original manga title: All You Need Is Kill. They should've went with that title domestically. Edge of Tomorrow sounds ho hum to me.

The suits might have been wary of running afoul of the PC-police for a Hollywood blockbuster with a title that says all you need to do is kill/die.

That's because it's a movie and not "a real war."

Just saw it in Dolby Atmos and really liked the sound mix, story, and acting.
If you're the kind of guy that likes action AND sci-fi, Tom Cruise will blow you
away with his performance in Edge of Tomorrow. Worth seeing on a big screen

What? No way!

"All you need is kill" is probably the best movie name I've ever heard. I love it.

I first realized that TC was an excellent actor when watching Magnolia, small part but affective. He was the motivational speaker, the look in his eyes was enough to tell me other wise!

Saw EoT yesterday. Liked it well enough. Yes it has the Groundhog Day mechanism, but still is a little more like Source Code, IMO. But I think the final battle scene is more like Matrix Revolutions than anything. Also, I had no problem w the ending.

Will make for a great rental, but I'm sure I'll buy.

As noted in an earlier post, I liked Edge of Tomorrow a lot, 8 Stars out of 10, but I absolutely loved Source Code, 9 Stars out of 10.

I think the ending of this kind of makes sense, given the correcting of the time paradox(?); didn't find it too Hollywood. And I only recently saw Deja Vu which is sort of similiar, also like, but think its ending is just a bit too happy.

I was fine with how it ended. As written there was an element of risk and uncertainty to the outcome. It would have been a video game outcome if it had remained static.

Saw this last night with the wife. She is NOT a sci-fi fan at all...but I did manage to talk her out of seeing "Tammi" to see this since she likes Emily Blunt.

Being the genius I am, we ate dinner and strolled into the 7:30 showing with me assuming the theater would be empty and we'd have our pick of the best seats. WOW was I wrong! EVERY seat was filled but we somehow managed to get lucky and score two near the aisle about mid-stadium height. I assumed (incorrectly) that it would be empty considering how long it has been out, the monkey movie was just released, and in general there weren't that many folks in line for tickets that evening.

My wife loved the movie. She literally didn't go to the bathroom midway through because she was so worried she would miss something important. Her squirrel-sized bladder was literally ready to burst by the end of the movie, but she was overwhelmed with intrigue. That, to me (who likes sci-fi, action, and yes Tom Cruise), spoke volumes.
Spoiler!

I saw this movie today and I must say that it was one of the better sci-fi movies I've seen in a long time.
Usually it just ends up in a FX-fest with no thought but I was a bit suprised that it was not.
The comic relief, repeats, action, story, acting etc. were well balanced and it turned into a solid SciFI-movie.

Haven't enjoyed a cinema visit as much as this in a long time.
Thumbs up.

Wow, that was something I was curious about. Edge of Tomorrow looked just too creative for a Hollywood Movie and I suspected there was some comic book or novel as the source of the story. Do you know if the Japanese make an "All You Need iS Kill" movie?

Apparently we're not the only ones that thought the Edge of Tomrrow title sucks.

WB "re-naming" Edge of Tomorrow for home video release.

Still think they should've stuck with "All You Need is Kill"
