Aren't those a bit old-school (he said, sifting through his VHS tapes, trying to decide which to pitch)?

I got some blank audio cassettes this week. I inherited a 1996 Buick Park Ave about a month ago and I'm getting tired of the radio so I decided to dust off my Nakamichi and make some tapes.

Harry Potter Blu Ray set. Got all eight movies for about $50 so that was hard to pass up since my kids are going to want to watch them a bunch.

36k when we got it, but we took it on a trip a week after we got it. So now it has about 37k.
This morning our 10 year old and I got in it and I opened a plastic box, took an object out and was about to insert it into the dash when our boy asked "What is that?". "Music" I said and then put the cassette in the stereo and we listened to American IV by "the man in black" on the way to grandma's.

Just bought three BD movies from Target:

Fantastic Mr. Fox
The King's Speech
Source Code

These are three of my favorite films. Nevertheless, the prices were right or I wouldn't have bought them.

Pirates of the Carribean blu-ray collection. The all region UK set dropped down to 32 dollars on Amazon, having been waiting for this price for some time.

Titles like this are what give me pause about the move to "the cloud" or whatever for media. I have the steel "ammo box" DVD edition of this. I like owning it in it's physical form. I can't come up with a rational reason, the discs have been copied to my server years ago and they never come out of their case. But it is a "thing" that I want.

Yep, me three. My son gave me the steel case edition of the Band of Brothers DVDs for Christmas in about 2002 or 03. Ever since the advent of the BD era I have toyed with replacing the old DVDs with BDs but so far I've been too cheap to do it.

I'm with you.

Even though I have since bought the remastered versions of the three original Star Trek seasons on Blu-ray, there's no way I'm parting with these:

...even if they depreciate in monetary value, you simply can't download or stream these....

I just recently tried my hand buying on eBay (both bids and by eBay store), and these are what I purchased (either "buy now" or winning bid):

Independence DayBlu-ray14-Aug-2014 Replaces my pan-and-scan DVD
Brain DonorsDVD15-Aug-2014Hilarious hidden gem that I wanted
Forbidden PlanetBlu-ray16-Aug-2014Replaces my pan-and-scan VHS

A few months ago I purchased the Star Wars set (all 6 movies + 3 extras discs) on Blu-ray.

My very humble setup:
Man Cave:Vizio E500i-A1 "Smart TV" (50-in 1080p 120Hz LED/LCD, has Netflix app.), Blu-ray players (Sony BDP-S3100, old LG BD390), Roku (the original model: N1000), PC (Windows 7), Comcast Internet (25Mbps/5Mbps).
Bedroom:LG 32LV3400-UA TV (32-in 768p 60Hz LED/LCD), HD DVR (Motorola RNG200N), Xfinity Comcast cable (Digital Starter Package), DVD/VHS player.

How is the dialog on this? Is it true to the original stereo mix where the dialog pans with the actors, or is it anchored to the center speaker?

Original stereo mix? Is IMDB wrong in stating that the sound mix is mono? (If the original mix was mono, would it be wrong for the disc to also have the sound in mono?)

There are two reasons why I cannot respond with what's on the Blu-ray disc at this time:
  1. The disc has been purchased but hasn't arrived yet. (Order status shows it is in transit.)
  2. My "man cave" doesn't have equipment with a center channel. However, I should still be able to tell if the sound was recorded on the disc to follow the actors.

That IMDB info is half correct. FP was released both in Perspecta, which although technically mono, was directional, allowing the sound to follow the center of action on the screen, as well as in true 4 track magnetic.

No rush—right after I posted, I saw that you posted the day you ordered it.
