The film should be perfectly safe for a 10.5 year old. When I saw it yesterday afternoon, a father and his two young boys occupied the three seats to my left. I would judge neither of the boys to have been much older than 8. The youngest one sat next to me and was enthralled. In fact both boys both seemed so caught up in the movie, neither made a sound except for the rattling of their popcorn sacks.

I'd disagree if language is your concern. D*ck, A**hole, stick up your a** are used liberally throughout plus there is sexual innuendo.

We did an 8pm showing last night. Waiting to get in, my wife was looking around and there were just a few kids. Mostly couples. My youngest is eight but had no problem with the movie, which she really enjoyed. Some of the language she would look at us like - oops! LOL.

Starts a little slow but, as has been mentioned, is a very fun, fast paced movie. I enjoyed it more than expected. The theater was almost full, and lots of times the whole audience was laughing.

Good to hear. I want to take my kids this week sometime. Did you guys see it at an IMAX?

Seen it today with my son. Found a coupon inside the Noah BD giving me $10 off an admission.Total cost was $9.50 for the both of us..Great movie, just enough comedy to move it along. The 2 hours went by fast, plenty of action!! Might be the holiday BD gift this year..

Just got back from an IMAX 3D viewing. As others have said, the movie steadily picks up during the show. The more I got to know everyone the more enjoyable the movie became. If I go for another viewing, I will skip the 3D. Some of the action is just too fast paced for 3D ( at least for my old eyes). Overall it was a fun time. 8 out of 10

Spoiler!

That's not what I'd call sexual innuendo...

"Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language. " http://www.filmratings.com/search.ht...&x=-1130&y=-40
There's nothing in this film that a 10.5 y.o. hasn't heard, or seen before.

I will say that the preview they showed before Guardians for Dumb and Dumber To had a pretty vulgar scene at the end of it that I was pretty uncomfortable with my kids seeing and one of them is 12.

I think you'll be fine. Hardly any innuendo and the language is pretty mild with the raccoon being the worst.

No Imax, just an older theater that is close. No atmos there either but the pq is solid and the audio is adequate except for wimpy lfe.

I didn't know this but I have noticed lately that the trailers have contained more material than I'm comfortable with if my children are with me. Interesting.

The whole language thing with GotG is relative to how a parent chooses to raise and expose their kids. There is language is prefer my kids didn't hear but nothing outside of the other Marvel movies. I have discussed at length that this language is not appropriate for them and why. Not that it's ok but I know they will hear the same or worse at school and I just assume make sure they're educated and prepared rather than sheltered. Just my opinion.

That's funny. My does that same look.

I have it ingrained in my daughters head that "we don't say that" any time a bad word is said. So now, whenever she hears one (whether it's in a movie or my wife or I let one slip), she's the one who looks up and me and says, "we don't say that".

Lol.

We mostly see kid's movies at the theater and easier to hit the aging cineplex close to my house. They don't run the audio as loud as most places, so easier on my eight year old daughter. If it is a movie I want to see then we go to a Cinetopia that is also near my house, but is usually much more crowded. Supposed to be state of the art for audio, or as much as any in this area, and gives a better baseline as to how good the lfe will be on the bluray.

No idea how good the audio will be for the bluray on this. I know I will be buying it either way.

I saw it in a recently remodeled AMC with reclining club chair seating and Atmos audio. I thought the audio was outstanding, including LFE that made my seat shake.

Yep, at the end of the movie they even flashed on screen that GOTG would return. I almost wish it had bombed because of that.

Saw this yesterday, and it was a fun summer movie to spend 2 hours or so at a cinema. Loved the raccoon and the tree, thought Chris Pratt looked like a seriously 'roided-up Jack Black in some sequences, Zoey Saldana was the predictably charming alien chick, and Dave Bautista as Drax was the quintessential gentle giant. Djimon Honsou was wasted, as was
Spoiler!
as Thanos.

Sometimes the movie veers into the weekday-morning Cartoon Network standard weird space/alien story lines, but all in all, a fun movie, and I give it a 7.5/10.
