The trailer for this movie made it look like a geriatric version of the Hangover movies. But after viewing it, it comes up short. Way short. Not even equal to the poor Hangover 3.
Where to begin? The script was lackluster in every way. Looking to be humorous yet touching, it failed on both counts. The jokes were predictable and full of cliché's, mostly centering on what a pain it is to get old. The sentimental parts were overdone, with messaging that was both trite and cloying.
The acting was purely rote. Given the huge names involved, one was left to wonder if any of them had read the script before agreeing to be in it. Or if they had even read the script before each day of filming. There's little indication that the cast had any fun at all during filming. If they did, it wasn't evident on screen.
If only the movie had been a clone of the Hangover movies, there could have been at least some laughs, but this was just an overly long and tiresome affair lacking charm, wit, or depth.
Not recommended, even as a rental.
