Only 36 years old.

Malik Bendjelloul passed away on tuesday evening in Stockholm, Sweden.
Brother Johar Bendjelloul tells Aftonbladet that his family recieved the tragic news during the evening.
– We wish to grieve in private.
Swedish police states that there is no crime related to his death.
Award winning director Bendjelloul won world recognition for his documentary about american singer songwriter Sixto Rodriguez.
The documentary ”Searching for Sugar Man” won best documentary at the Oscar awards in 2013.
He recieved his statue from actor Ben Affleck.
– An undescribable honor and completely surreal, he told swedish newspaper Göteborgs Posten after the award ceremony.
Bendjelloul also won numerous international awards for his documentary, amongst them a BAFTA.

Sad to hear he committed suicide.

I am a fan of his Searching for Sugar Man, have it on Blu-ray. Well deserved Oscar.

Nothing confirmed but the rumor is that he threw himself in front of a subway train.
