I am always wondering whether to watch so called "3D movies" in 3D or 2D (in the cinema or at home).

I would like to make a list of 3D movies that are most definitely better watched in 2D and a brief few words as to why. It could be that the 3D is poorly done; that the 3D effect is too subtle or not subtle enough; it could be that the movie is too dim and not vibrant enough; or too gimmicky.

I think the bar for 3D movies was set with Avatar.

I recently saw Gravity in 2D and only discovered a few days later that it was a really good 3D movie.

I prefer watching movies in 2D for eye comfort's sake, but I also don't want to miss out on any awesome 3D movies, especially for my first viewing.

Let's make a list!

A list can be made but people agreeing on what goes on the list...I think it was said best in 'Immortals' "Seal the gates and prepare for war"

"Bring out yer dead!".."Wait I'm not dead yet!"..(Sound Austrian here) "WRONG !!" (You know what happens next..)

I said, in the thread for 47 Ronin, that the 3D for that picture was flat as paper, with hardly any dimensionality to it. Perfect for 2D, then, but not 3D.

To me it seems a 3D movie released on disc as 2D has better picture quality than a regular 2D film released on disc.

I should agree that most 3D films are better watched 2D for image clearness etc. I always prefer 3D for sci-fi movies tho!

+1

I do love well executed and well projected 3D in cinemas.

I will say that Prometheus looked phenomenal in 2D on my Kuro.
