What a guitarist... I had the good fortune to have seen him on at least five occasions, 1969-probably 1997 or so. Always a virtuoso, always tasteful in what he played. He lived longer than most people would have imagined he would. R.I.P.

I consider him one of the great guitar players of all time for rock blues. He was highly respected from his peers. Saw him many times back in the days. His album Johnny Winters live and' With Rick Derringer has some of the greatest dual guitar work ever layed down. His shows with his Brother Edgar were legendary. He fought addiction all his life. I was front row one time back around 1978 and his arms were unreal looking from all the needle marks over the years. It is amazing he lived as long as he did. RIP Johnny
