"New" Pink Floyd

I am huge Pink Floyd fan but I not that much into the post Waters era. According to wikipedia the new album is a side project from the Division Bell sessions. I will be buying this non the less because Pink Floyd.

Nice! I like you enjoyed Floyd more with Rogers. The new, sleepy, easy going Floyd gets a little uninteresting at times. I miss the bite from Waters. But I still try to enjoy it because it's Floyd.

I like to call the band without Roger Waters "Pink Fraud".

I've always thought A Momentary Lapse Of Reason and Division Bell were good albums. Not their finest but very good nonetheless (AMLOR being better than DB imo).

Besides, as mentioned on Dave Gilmour's site: "A new Pink Floyd album, entitled The Endless River, is due for release in October 2014. As revealed by Polly Samson on Twitter, it is based around the sessions for The Division Bell, which saw David, Richard and Nick returning to their method of improvisational composition which created masterpieces like Echoes and Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

The album, which is predominantly instrumental, was produced by David, with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson, building on the 1993 sessions produced by Bob Ezrin and David. Richard Wright features strongly throughout, and, as such, the recordings can be considered his swansong. He remains much missed."

For these two reasons alone, I'm very much looking forward to this "new" material.

Nice! I think I'll do the same actually. In a way, if this is to be their last album, it's fitting that it's an instrumental, back to their roots kind of things, more conceptual etc. The little audio snipet on their site sounds more than promising, Gilmour's inimitable style leading the charge.

Gilmour was responsible for most of the sound of Pink Floyd, but Waters was responsible for most of the Floyd-ness of Pink Floyd.

It's new Pink Floyd-ish music. Already reordered it and will enjoy it for what it is. Hopefully it's good! I'll take this release over nothing at all.

For what it's worth, although it's hidden on Amazon, you can buy just the redbook CD for $11.98 versus the CD/Blu-ray combo for $30. It's the same content, just standard redbook versus hi-res.

I changed my order to just CD and saved $18. FYI.

Another $18 for a high res 5.1 mix is a no brainer IMO if you have a nice 5.1 setup and enjoy listening to music on it.

I can't argue with that; my priorities have shifted a bit lately, so I'm not as interested in the surround mix as I would have been a year ago. I hope it's great and you enjoy it.

Mainly, I wanted to let others know the CD alone is an option, but it's tough to find that without knowing it already.

I am trying to get excited, I should be excited, but to be honest I think both David and Roger are incomplete without the other. Perhaps its their ying/yang personalities.

The hi res 5.1 mix and the Wright swan song will eventually win out and I will order.

Getting my LP's and Bluray delievered tomorrow.

No matter your feelings on Pink Floyd, whether it's the Sid, Waters, or Gilmour era, i think there is still a huge demand for material.

As much as I wanted to like this, it's just not in the cards. 3 listens (looong listens) but it's just not doing it for me...at all. I think what other posters have said about post Waters is somewhat true here.

One of first Pink Floyd cds I could not sit through.Seemed like a lot of ambient noodling.
