Star Wars: The Force Awakens

First teaser has been released!

First thing I noticed: it doesn't look "fake" like the prequels.

It's short, just a teaser, but I like it! Let the countdown begin!

[edit] I chose to make a new thread since the previous one was a poll and it's pretty clear by now that J.J Abrams is going to direct the next Star Wars

Let the countdown begin indeed. It's nice to see the Falcon in action again.

I also noticed that there seems to a lot more practical effects and models. Good first impression, looking forward to seeing more!

I was so burned out of anything Star Wars related for a long time...but after seeing that trailer....the Falcon, X-Wings and Tie Fighters. I'm totally down for this.

anyone know where to get a better quality dl than apple's 1080p? The audio at the end is real rough and distorted.

Maybe if you can change the title to specify the thread subject to be the discussion of this and future SW 7 teasers and trailers we would get more participation. I can't believe people aren't lining up to comment on this.

Not sure I follow Cam Man sorry... This discussion isn't supposed to be about the trailers, otherwise I would have mentioned it in the title. A dedicated thread with the actual movie title seemed appropriate to me now that the official teaser has been released but what do I know? Mods can always merge the two threads if that's a problem.

Very much a teaser with not much shown but it sure looks good. As I mentioned, the prequels (especially 2 and 3) look like cartoons. This looks like a movie! One year away isn't all that long, really. Looks like it will be fun and I really hope it has a very aggressive Atmos sound mix.

No worries. I'm sure it was me misunderstanding. My apologies. But watch for a new thread about the SW7 teasers and trailers.

Watched the trailer teaser several times. Showed my kids it at least twice. Man I tell ya, when the John Williams score and the Millennium Falcon kick in I'm right back to that kid waiting in line to see Star Wars with my parents. I gotta hankerin' to fire up my BDs and head to Tatooine.

I loved everyone of the films and am looking forward to the new ones.

Love em or hate em, the Prequels were in fact full of models and practical effects. Hopefully the new ones are as well. With the massive steps CGI has taken the combo of practical and CGI should be mouth watering.

It's always in the last place you look.

Add in the pod race audio and I agree.

EDIT: Just watched the teaser again. When the sound of those X-wings hits...well, I like it.

I have the LD boxset from '93. I hate to say this but it is altered. The Star Wars crawl has "A New Hope Ep IV" in it. If you watched it in 1977 it was just "Star Wars". The despecialized edition is the closest you can get to the 1977 edition.

I haven't watched the trailer yet... Trying to decide if I actually want to watch any trailers leading up to this film or go in dark.

It's not a trailer, but a true teaser--it doesn't tell you anything. Just shows various snippets out of context and unexplained. And and at the end there's this gloious snippet of the Falcon and two TIE fighters accompanied by the John Williams' Star Wars theme. Hell, much of it may have been done just for the teaser and may not end up in the movie iteself.
