Marvel's Ant-Man

Marvel seems to be firing on all cylinders.

Plot Summary:
The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers
to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ "Ant-Man." Armed with the astonishing
ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero
and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a
new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must
plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Human sized trailer.

All good things gotta come to end.
So will Marvel's winning streak, and right here is where it happens.

This trailer re-enforces my suspicion the movie will only appeal to comic book fanbois.
Why?
Paul Rudd as a serious superhero character?
Pleeeeze......
A Marvel hero who saves the day from the back of a flying ant?
Pleeeeeze......
What were they thinking?

I really can't believe someone didn't pull Kevin Feige aside and say "Dude, this can't work in the 21st century...it just can't."

Marvel did the right thing in revealing the phases. The signs are there. It's too bad everyone believes it's about Duh-vengers and not GotG. To drive this home they bring out the big guns. Paul Rudd. Marvel is trying to tell you that the comic in comic book is there for a reason.

If this was a trailer for a standalone film, I'd laugh (not in a good way). The fact that Marvel has done so well is the only reason I'm not. I'll give it (and them) the benefit of the doubt for now.

Chances are very good that I was drinking when I posted the above.

IMO, GotG is one of the absolute best Marvel movies yet.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but yeah, maybe so.

When I was kid, reading Marvel back in the 60s, I didn't sense much humor in their stuff.
I guess that changed over the years...

Their success ratio (like Pixar) is damn impressive by any measuring stick.
Of course, it can't go on indefinitely.

Hmmmm...not sure I'd go as far as Jar Jar...Daredevil feels more appropriate (unfortunately).

They are boring and too wordy. I have almost every key issue from the 60's and Stan Lee IMO is possibly one of the worse comic book writers ever. It's the later 70's to early 90's writing which are more inline to what the movies are like.

In spite of my doubts about the material being filmable, my faith in Marvel remains strong.

I remember liking Ant-Man (Hank) and his wife Janet (The Wasp), though it wasn't my favorite comic. They became a part of the Avengers back when I was still reading comics.

No doubt, plus I just can't see Rudd in particular in this role. I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm sitting here watching I Love You Man which is the type of thing he is built for!

Remember Fantastic Voyage? Imagine being a fly-on-the-wall; there's plenty a diminutive operative can do, though I'd guess your main foes would likely be predatory insects.

OK, so it might suck, but I'll go and find out for myself..

He is good at that kind of character.

I do remember FV.
It was great when I was a kid.

There also was that movie with Dennis Quaid in the 80s.

I just cant see Rudd in anything but comedies of some sort and some actors/actresses are like that for me. I don't see him pulling this off.....at all. We will see.

The main point still stands though which is this movie looks horrendous from what I have seen of it SO FAR. That could change of course, but this looks BAD right now, lol.
