Oh wait, the engineers breathed the same air (really, some zillion miles away) drank the same water or some form of it since they strangely had our body shape. Guess it was given that there was a fridge somewhere and a freezer with plenty of space cow parts to grill. There's a grill? Wow! We don't need no veggies? What? I know, David figured out how to grill those nasty little snakes that seemed to pop up whenever you disturbed the weapons canisters.

Tastes like chicken! Everything tastes like chicken ... Right? It could use a little salt. Where's the salt? On Sht, I'm dead from lack of Salt!

Just sayin'

I'm gonna wait for the reviews on this one, the last one really turned me off of the Aliens franchise. Especially when the supposed zoologist was like "Look at the cute xenomorph!"

Gotta love how one scene, in a loosely related sequel, can retroactively ruin an entire franchise for someone.

I know - but it was just THAT dumb. I couldn't stand how dumb it was, it completely took me out of the movie. The first two movies are legendary but everything else since then and everything moving forward is a "wait for review" sort of thing now.

This just looks like a rehash of the first Alien movie, similar to how The Force Awakens was a rehash of A New Hope.

Just a new coat of paint for the current generation that don't know about these franchises. Hope there is some meaningful tie-in to Prometheus.

I wouldn't just pass it off as death sentence so quickly. Remember, the engineer's ship is equipped with stasis pods and their DNA is supposedly a match to human's. Shaw could have set something up on the planet surface and go to stasis sleep (with the help from David) and wake up after # of months.

Somewhat OT but we don't know if the DNA is a match because the Engineers are humans forefathers or if there is another source that created both. Or maybe all three is you throw in Xenos. We haven't seen their DNA. I hope they undertake this next one with diligence.

There is a scene in Prometheus which Shaw says it's a match, it's us, it's everything, referring to a popped sample of the engineer's head. So, the stasis system in engineer's ship should work on human, theoretically speaking.

How do we explain the xenomophs sculptures on the walls in Prometheus then? Weren't the Engineers attacked by aliens themselves??

I dunno. I thought I read somewhere Ridley said that. It's entirely possible I misremembered. It's been known to happen.

Ah, correct. I think I was so pissed at the film by that point, I let it slip into a memory hole.

Stasis working, Food working are also one of the many Ridley Loose ends, like thruster exhaust in space, etc. Detail is not a rule, but good writing helps you suspend the small stuff.
It's been a little while ..

Sloppy screenwriting? A half-thought-out idea that's being abandoned in the sequel?

They're all variations of the 'haunted house' plot, where something is loose in a contained space and is picking off the cast one by one.

At a guess, I would estimate that literally every single person who has seen the trailer for that movie thinks that.

A new poster has been released and it's interesting.

We really deserve a good one here, after some not so good ones(for me) over the last few years. Nothing worse then a stink bomb tossed into a franchise, specially one so revered as Alien. I did really enjoy some aspects of Prometheus but there was some stank on that bone. It is visually pleasing, very. Alien is my personal favorite, I like 3 more than Aliens which makes me a moron according to any discussion on alien, ever.

But it will probably suck, I bet there will be a 4th deathstar.

It's always in the last place you look.

Thanks for taking one for the team, Card. This should ignite some spirited discussion. Oh,

3 had better actors, way better score, and a Director that had a platoon of producers parked inside his rear, not letting him play with a half script and make it into something. It ages well IMO. A2 is just a dumb military action script that is full of copy/paste everything, via a guy that should never write anything and stick to what he really knows - Direct! Unobtanium ring a bell?

Given, his last few are the top money makers ever. That doesn't get him a pass on zero writing skills. It only proves his willingness to hit the mark on the Sell. It's packaged garbage. Make the same movie without The Original Alien, and it burns a hard death. We were living the first again and willing to except the Marine BS and the 100 midget Xenos acting like a platoon themselves and seemed to be darn easy to kill. Just shoot it. Who Knew? Don't get me started on the Queen.

You are not alone. A3 was depressing. American audience Kryptonite. It had no swashbuckler ending - go home, all is well. There was no place for high performance actors like Charles Dance in the US at the time unless he was on some New York Stage playing to a very closed set of people. Of course, later when he dressed a deer and dressed down his son in his GOT opening scene, some people noticed. His performance in A3 was better.

That poster does have some images that haven't been shown in the trailers. One can get a sense of what may be included in this movie by looking at certain areas of the poster.

Alien: Covenant - 2017

I now respect the Assembly Cut of Alien3 but it is still behind the first two films imho. I saw Aliens/Cubed in the theaters and a stark contrast between the audience reactions and ticket sales between both films. Yeah Finchers Cubed is 'different' but a mess with the writing/story because it never peaked after killing off the 'family'. Yes the film is depressive but the sets and acting were superb! Honestly I have my opinions about the future of these films but I am happy they are making them. I just want to have a fun experience and see more Xenomorphs, that is all.

Yes I will see this movie in May!
