This is one of my favorite lesser-known Jackie films. It's sort of a blend of drama, comedy, action, and fantasy, and has really nice FX and cinematography. It also contains some graphic violence and adult themes, so it may not be suitable for younger viewers...

This is also pretty good, and (generally) more family friendly. The audience actually clapped at the end when I saw this in a theater...

That would be nice.

I'd be satisfied with a good Blu-ray though, since the DVD is all I've seen so far.

For those who haven't seen it, The Myth moves pretty quickly. And the story is a little easier to follow and appreciate if you know something about the ancient (Chinese) history on which it's loosely based. Maybe that's one of the reasons it wasn't more successful outside of Asia.

I don't wanna make this a history lesson, but here are a few links that may help...

While we're on the subject... here are a couple scenes from a newer J. Chan movie called Dragon Blade.

This is about the Silk Road, a important trade route between east and west Asia in the ancient world. And yes, that is John Cusack from Say Anything and High Fidelity in the first clip, playing a Roman general. I doubt he did all his own stunts, but he seems pretty good here.

The film also stars Adrien Brody, and Lin Peng as "Cold Moon" (2nd clip). I may have to check this one out as well...

No apology necessary. Just call em as you see em. It's more fun and also more helpful that way.

What about Dragon Blade didn't you like btw?

Holy Dick Grayson quotes, Batman! I think I'm detecting just a hint of sarcasm and campiness in this new vid by Pledis's Pristin. Will have to consult Adam West and Burt Ward to be sure though.

Time to put on my music critic's hat.

This video was obviously done rather quickly, so I can't be too critical of the videography and what have you. I like the stark look of the imagery though. And I think it fits with the down-tempo, but not necessarily down-beat mood of the song. And I also like the song. The choreo, which is basic, looks a little stiff to me at times. But is ok for the most part.

One can't help but think of Alicia Keys' iconic tune of the same name...

So it was sort of a bold move on Minzy's part to try to "remake" her concept. That's what hip-hop artists do though. Take the old, and flip it around to make something new and their own. This isn't a complete 180, but it's different enough from Alicia's original tune to be interesting.

Minzy's singing is not as polished or sophisticated as Alicia's. (Ailee is closer imo.) But she is certainly no slouch in the vocal department (see the next video for more proof of that). And can definitely put some chills up your spine when she wants to. And she does a pretty nice job with her concept for the song, which is the important thing. I think the "you're so beautiful" line might have been stronger though without the falsetto.

That's about it.
