Why was this movie released on dvd in a strange full screen 4 by 3 mode with curved corners? Not sure if this was a pretentious pile of junk or just a poorly made scary movie. So many seem to really like it but it put me to sleep.

I watched this last night. Very good movie! Being an independent film, it moves at a much slower place, and has much longer continuous scenes than you would get from standard fare big studio films. I really liked this movie. The way the story was presented for the ghost was truly unique and I think this movie will be a stand out in my collection of movies.
MrGrey likes this.

Packing a lot of sound into a small room.
268 square feet/2144 cubic feet
7.2 surround sound.

The aspect ratio was the director's choice. I guess for you that would make it a "pretentious pile of junk."

I haven't seen it, but I don't believe it's at all meant to be a horror movie. Why you expected it to be scary is kind of puzzling.

Before you comment you should at least see it. I stand by my statement that the aspect ratio had me puzzled to the extent that I thought my settings were off on my new 4K television since this was first dvd I watched on it.

That's fair enough. But as for it being a "poorly made scary movie," none of the marketing has promoted it as a horror film. I don't know where you got that impression.
