My entire teenage and college years were covered in the sound track of Tom Petty. Sorry to see him go to soon. Thankful that he got to do what he loved best and do his last tour.

I'm 53 years old and a Florida boy myself so Tom's music was pretty much always there when I was growing up and a familiar "go to" set of rock&roll tunes once I got older. I'm glad I got to see him play live a few times.

He'll be missed.

54 years old here, and his music was always in the mix back then and even now. Classic music that never gets old. RIP Tom Petty.

Great live performer and storyteller. Definitely a icon for me

A really good subway singer was doing Free Fallin', and when she said she did it as a tribute, the crowd broke into loud applause, some were visibly moved.

I just remembered something: Tom also had an acting gig once, in The Postman alongside Kevin Costner. I spotted him in it one night on cable, even though I didn't watch the whole thing.

Been listening to mostly Tom all week, such a legendary musician and really upsetting to lose him so suddenly.

I wrote a little tribute here if you are interested:

Hey Jason,

Very nice write up. Your first paragraph nailed it in my opinion.
