Should this be worst villan or best villan. Cant make up my mind. Anyway, I like the villans better than the hero's.

Here goes, for my nominations,
for serious villany...Lawrence Olivier in Marathon Man
for serious villany with black humor...Alan Rickman in Robin Hood
for comedic villany Mike Myers as Dr Evil
for short villans Mini Me...LOL

anyway, your turn.

Chris Walken.

Which my ex girlfriend dated ,once. If she was bad girl enough for Chris,
I knew she would be bad. Boy did I overestimate my capacity to mantain my finances under control with bad women...

She did ask him what happened to Natalie Wood.... he kicked her out of the room. Life Imitating art? If the reverse is true he is bad.

In a very likeable way.

I'll go for Spacey too but in Seven. Now THAT was creepy.

For the best all time villian (in both the comedic & black humor categories) though yo cannot do better than...

Jack Lemmon as Professor Fate in "The Great Race"

"Maxxxxxxxx"

DVD anytime soon?????

Definately not the "best" villian of all time, but one that I cared about more than the hero of the film, DeNiro's Neil McCauley in Heat.

The Best villian by far is Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector in Silence of The Lambs. An amazing performance. Each time I watch this movie and I have watched it at least a dozen times, he still scares the Hell out of me.

It depends on your defintion of "villan". Sorry if I sound like a lawyer.

HAL9000 was a villan, but its programming merely manifested our own evil. Thanks to Kubrick and Clarke for portraying the future of our own demise.

Darth was bad. But, in the end he redeems himself. It's hard to call a forgiven evil as "villan". How lovely seeing him standing next to Obi and Yoda. I wanted to cry http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

Leonard Smalls (Tex Cobb) in Raising Arizona. Nothing redeeming about that character.

Some great one's already but here are a couple more to ponder:

Robert Deniro in almost any role like in:

The Untouchables (Al Capone)
Cape Fear (psyhcotic criminal looking for revenge against his defense lawyer)

Also in any of his roles:

Christopher Walken (Gangster in True Romance, etc.)

Mikey,
Wow, thats Alan Rickman twice now. How about Lee Marvin in the classic "The man who shot Liberty Vallance". Lee.M in The Kllers was another.

For those of you who like the old classic B/W movies. Who was the actor who starred opposite George Saunders in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Brett would probably know. That guy ended up as THE most dapper villain of all time. Or was it really George S who was the real Villain. What a great movie, and book.
Hollywood seems to have avoided a remake here. Its probably best.

I like Vincent Price as Dr. Phibes. He kills via bibical type curses. He has a wonderful mechanical band, plays what I think is a mighty Whurlitzer pipe organ, has an ultra attractive female assitant, and talks to his dead wife's portrait. He's hardly ever wrong cause he's a genius, and of course he's p'ed cause life has treated him unfairly, he thinks. It's not exactly clear how many times he's been dead, or for how long. He is, apparently, able to come and go in life. Oh, he has extra cool cript that loos like Elvis designed it. I think it has doorknobs on both sides, if you know what I mean...

Honorable mention to Richard Kiel for "old silverteath and Eegah or any of his other silly roles like, an alien on the Twilight Zone, a tall alien. How To Prepare Man, oh my gosh it's a cookbook!.....

I have a new contender for the best villian in a movie...The customized Lincoln Contential in the movie "The Car" starring James Brolin. Ruthless, homicidal, and pure evil.
