It's coming and proves that dvd is NOT suitable for renting ( as vhs was ). but retailers and others will suffer BIG TIME! http://www.dvdreview.com/html/news.html

and how good is the quality of video over the internet?


You'll probably pay more for the FAST internet connection per month than you would a DVD player. Or you could start the download and wait 1 month to watch the movie on a good cable internet connection ($40/month).

That article is a joke, IMHO.

hey
first , I don't back them up. just to alert of what is coming.
as for the internet, G-DSL is already here. a good DLS line is plenty enough to download fast. how in practice it will work, I don't know. will there be special new dvd players with memories ? or do we connect a dvd player with a data port to load the film from our PC databese and then once loaded , with pres PLAY ?
a story to follow for sure. and it will be a complex story (what about the zones for instance ? in France, starting December 1, all region 1 disc of movies played in theater for less than 6month are FORBIDDEN! cops were at all dvd retailers and importers all day long today..... I wonder how SONY and co project will deal with the region stuff and national video regulations).
