Hello, I have had a DVD player for some time now, but am not very technical when it comes to DVD's. However, I wanted to ask about a problem I saw when watching CTHD last night. Beginning in the scenes in the desert, there was a great deal of speckles and parts of the images were lost. How's that for description http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif Also another scene completely froze. I went back to the menu and then skipped to the scene and it played okay. This only happened in the scenes I mentioned. After watching the remaining movie, I went back over and replayed them, and didn't notice anything. Do you think it is the disk or my player. I've never had trouble watching DVD's before this. COuld my machine need cleaning? Thanks for any info. Melinda

Help us out. What model DVD player do you have? Where did you get the DVD? Did you examine it afterwards for any scratches?

I had something similar happen with another DVD "The Accidental Spy" from HK in my Panasonic DVD-L10. I noticed the disc was extremely hot when I removed it, so I thought that might have been the cause. It worked great in my other players.

I just watched CTHD last night, and I did not have any of the problems that you listed. (Using a Sony DVP-9000ES player.) I would try your disk in another player to see if the same problems occur.

Thanks for the replies,
I have a Toshiba SD2109 player. I'm such a dunce, I didn't even think to check for scratches before posting my message. I checked and did indeed have scratches on the disk. I exchanged it at Best Buy this evening. I haven't watched the new one yet, but I think that was probably it.

Thanks again,
Melinda
