I just watched the first 20 minutes of R1 Crouching Tiger. It paused twice (for 10 seconds) before continuing. (The 10 seconds worth of audio/video does not get shown.)

I have a Philips 953, which is the new progressive unit from Philips. I was using the S-Video out, but I don't think it is a connection problem. (Just for a test, I ran MI-2 all the way through, and it showed no problems.)

Has anyone else seen this problem? (I know some HTPC's running ATI player seems to have a problem also.)

Thanks in advance.

Just watched my copy of CTHD last night and it ran fine on the trusty old Onkyo DVS-535.

No problems on a DVD-ROM with Cinemaster 2000.

One curious thing to note - I enabled English subtitles, having been advised to watch the Mandarin version, and not realizing the default soundtrack was English. That thing being, the dubbed dialogue and the subtitles do not match, they are different translations - very different.

Gary,

I noticed the same thing on the R3 disc!

At first I thought it was funny, but as I continued watching I was wondering how they could get the two so wrong!

BTW the english dub is IMO not very good at all. I liked it with the original track plus subtitles.

Is it not true that if you watch a movie through S-video on a progressive scan player, you can only watch interlaced and not progressive? Maybe, I am wrong, but I was advised that you can only get a progressive picture only with either VGA or component connection. On my Denon 2800 I get a progressive picture ONLY through component connection. When I switch to s-video, it becomes interlaced.

I had no problems on my Toshiba. Interesting about the two translations!
