I hadn't heard anything about this movie, so I rented it on a whim. It's a great political thriller that just went onto my "buy list." A lot of dialogue so it will not give your sound system a work out. But if you want to view a good movie, check this one out.

I saw about 30 movies in 2000. The Contender was my favorite by far.

Saw this a few weeks ago on Directv, in HD channel 199. and it was awesome. I have the DVD ordered, and have to agree it was a great movie.

I bought this DVD based upon a review, which I sometimes end up regretting. But not in this case. I was absolutely mesmerized by the movie. Wonderful dialog and acting. I've watched it about 4 times so far and it remains one of my favorite movies.

I FOUND IT BORING AND UNINSPIRED. 13 DAYS IS THE ONE TO GET!

I was lucky in the order, but I've always been lucky when it comes to killin' folk - Unforgiven cannot wait for the hd-dvd of this gem

I saw 13 days also. Great Movie. But The Contender is still my fav. Great charactors, something that can be hard to find in movies these days.

13 Days was another good movie. Coming from Boston, I did find Kevin Costner's Bostonian accent very laughable.

Rented Contender because of the above feedback--very good movie, thanks.

what the hell are you talking about!

this was the most underated movie of 2000! definitely should've been up there for best movie cat. although it was good to see joan allen got a nomination.

the contender was the intelligent movie of the year. as the insider was in 1999.

however, i did note a fault. the movie noted that she voted against Clinton during impeachment proceedings! that kind of irked me since she espoused privacy.

glad someone made this post</FONT f>
