There is nothing, and will be nothing else...this is the only version we're getting for quite awhile.
I will enjoy it as soon as it comes out.

Are you kidding?

Do you really think that American Zoetrope and Coppolawould go to the trouble of releasing a five disc box set only to say- this isnt our definitive version??? Oh- wait-APocalypse Now Redux (due 11/20 on DVD).

BUt seriously- Coppola sat down to record a 574 minute commentary- i dont think that he really has anything more to say.

So- i concur with KennyG- buy the box set on October 9th and savor the flavor.

PS- i will be buying APocalypse Now Redux on 11/20.

I also say get it, enjoy it. And, by the way, don't ever let anyone else outside the family know what you're thinking.

KennyG-

Is it a Fender Mustang or Jagstang? Just checking. I am a Fender man myself. Kurt Cobain had a 63 Jagstang b4 he passed (he was the reason Fender made a few more Jagstang's in the 90's)

This is a hard one to call, much depends on individual issues. I have heard that the elements of Godfather One are in need of a full restoration and the team that did Vertigo, Spartacus, etc. wants to do it. I note that the review of the new set on dvdfile.com noticed that GF One looked somewhat below 2& 3. It could be years before a restoration is done, if at all.

In my case I have the LD set so I'm going to wait. I'm still waiting for an enhanced Vertigo. Waiting is difficult but I resisted on Die Hard, Last of The Mohicans, etc., so sometimes it pays off. But, I sure will rent the Godfather set and watch it in the meantime. Who knows, maybe it will be good enough where I don't have to wait.
