I've heard only vague rumors that the original KING KONG was
undergoing a restoration and transfer to DVD. Is there anything to this? Has a release date or any other solid
news been released on it?

I've checked DIGITAL BITS and the like and can't seem to
find anything. Thanks in advance for any word.

Mike,

a french dvd of king kong has been released. It includes two versions:the french (85 mn) and the international (I think) of 100 mn.
Unfortunately, picture and transfers (and master?!) are not very good.
DNR strongly used.

I have the Greman R2 PAL version. Compared to my old NTSC LD it has great videoquality and it is not the "darkened" version.

Thanks to all for your responses. Being a fan of Willis O'Brien's work, and after seeing the wonderful restoration
of THE LOST WORLD (1925), I had hopes something might yet
happen this year. Oh, well, there's always other classics, like THE THIEF OF BAGHDAD.
