Did Viacom have a hand in this movie? This was almost as bad as Antitrust, which I also turned off within 30 minutes. Decent video, but I am not a fan of pop music.

I have seen Brokedown Palace (the whole film) twice and enjoyed it. Many people rag on this film being a rip-off of "Return to Paradise," but I suspect the scripts were written independently. The scenery is beautiful, especially in the first few minutes. The plot seems plausible, much more so than "Return to Paradise," though I don't know if it would seem plausible to someone from Thailand. It's no Shawshank Redemption, but then again, what is? The acting is good, never breaking my involvement with the movie.

The IMDB average rating for this film is just 6.0/10. I keep trying to find the reason that it doesn't rate higher. I think it may have something to do with the Beverly Hills 90210 start prior to the plunge into Papillon, coupled with most people seeing "Return to Paradise" first and regarding Brokedown Palace as a rip-off.

It's worth your time to watch in HD or on DVD, and if you go in expecting to see a 6.0/10, I think you'll be pleased to find a 7.2/10 instead.

Well . . .

The movie has some arguable virtues. But that's the best I can say about it.

On the other hand, there's a real place for movies like this. When you're out of Syrup of Ipecac, you just replay the ending of this movie, and . . . you're there.

Bulimia Productions Presents . . .
