These have to be contenders:

Don't know much - Neville/Ronstadt
Try a little tenderness - Otis Redding
Bernadetts - Cohen/Jennifer Warnes (in fact the whole of 'Famous Blue Raincoat)

The Day Before You Came - ABBA

I know for some the word "ABBA" rhymes with cheesy, but just listen to that song. It's the last song they ever recorded. Full of nostalgia, melancholy, despair, and yet the story told in the song might seem happier at first. Musically it's just borderline perfect, minimalistic arrangements, blended with operatic voices and moving synth textures. I'm not even a fan ABBA, but I have to admit this song gives me goosebumps. The song is from 1982, and aside some obvious cultural references in the lyrics, it doesn't sound particularly early 80s. Which makes it even more poignant.

Gloomy Sunday - title song same as the movie. The song was actually composed in 1935 by Rezsö Seress. Sarah Brightman and Billie Holiday both recorded the song.

The leading Hungarian lady Erika Marozsán is also on the Hottest Looking Girl thread but w/o any picture.

Mourning the disappearance of the -ly suffix. Like words being cut-off before they've had a chance to finish, left incomplete, with their shoelaces untied and their zippers undone. If I quote your post without comment, please check your zipper.

New Horizons — Moody Blues. Not THE most beautiful, but one of, in my thoughts. The melody gets me every time. Also, The Star-Spangled Banner as performed by the NY Philharmonic during their historic trip to North Korea. It evoked great feelings in me as I heard it the first time. It's an extremely evocative, even beautiful piece when performed in a slower, stately manner rather than almost like a John Philip Sousa march.

Yep.

New Horizon is one of the better new songs from the classic rock band.

1972 is new?

Actually, the album it's from, "Seventh Soujourn", is the last from their greatest, earlier run of 1967 through 1972.

They took a long hiatus and didn't release another album as a band until 1978.

Hey folks, this is a very subjective thread. The most beautiful song ever - based on what standard ? American, european, chinese, mexican, indian or croatian ....

Since music is very different across various parts of the world & the listeners have very different tastes, we shouldn't term any single music to be the best or most beautiful in the world

The understood, obvious implication/qualifier should be "in my opinion" or "in my experience." That's how I took the question .

The OP did say "in all of history," so any choice doesn't have to be current. Which is good, since I'd be harder pressed to come up with anything in that case.

It's not that - dragonbud0 said "New Horizons" was one of their "better, new" songs, when it's technically far from it.

Use of the word "newer" in the Moody Blues case, would generally refer to their second, "comeback" incarnation as a group, which started in 1978.

I was just informing him of when it was actually recorded, and from what period is was actually from, in case he wasn't aware - unless he considers that period "new-er" - like maybe "middle period" or something. But it's really not, as it's from the last album of their original, Progressive era, before they broke up, dabbled in some solo and duo stuff, and then re-formed a few years later.

It did sound a bit like some of the mellower stuff Hayward went on to do after that - but still, a heck of a lot better, IMO.

I probably should've quoted him and bolded the word "new", to make exactly what I was responding to clearer.

I probably should've quoted him and bolded the word "new", to make exactly what I was responding to clearer.

Oh, okay. Got it. Perhaps it's newer to him?

The album before would be Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. I have that one.
