Gosh, I really would rather not buy a new player solely for one movie. It's a shame, I would love to see the film again as I was only about 10 years old when I saw it on TBS.

Do as PooperScooper suggested and check out videohelp.com, there may be a region free hack for the DVD player you presently own.

I was thinking more along the lines of you being able to watch Threads and other movies that aren't R1. For just Threads, yes, it's probably overkill. :)

Keep in mind the DVD is PAL as well; if you're going to bother hacking your player, you've gotta make certain it converts PAL -> NTSC. If it doesn't, you can't watch it on your TV anyway.

My recommendation is to (cough) remove the region code and watch it on your PC. This assumes you already have a DVD reader/writer.

There isn't for either my Sony 75H or 85H. :(

The part about progressively feeling worse and worse until you die from one of many causes. Or the chance that you might surive and deal with extremely primitive conditions. I'm too old for that now. :) Maybe if I were younger.... Then again, you never know until faced with the situation.

I did eventually watch "When the Wind Blows". Excellent movie, very well done. Another view of what could happen. And I watched "Testament" last night. I didn't know a young Kevin Costner and Rebecca De Mornay were in it. It was a good movie also. Not as graphic as some of the others, but still to the point.

I stumbled upon Atomic Attack last night on Amazon. Made in 1954. I watched some of it. Cheesy, very chessy.
